Dear tourists, people die on this track, and sadly tourists' rescues are over-represented due to ill-equipped poor decision-making hikers that push timeframes so please treat this, and other alpine tracks like it with respect, our weather changes very quickly here. The Routeburn runs at a loss so please help us, kiwi taxpayers, by paying your full support so others after you for many years to come can enjoy it too, please and thank you for your consideration, we are only a small nation.

Hey Dave, thanks for your insight. We agree that most people need to do a better job of undertaking outdoor adventures that are within their skill level and bring appropriate gear. I will admit that sometimes my videos do understate the difficulty of these hikes, but after many years of experience and much tougher adventures it is quite refreshing to be on a wide maintained trail. Rescues happen everywhere for ill equipped and inexperienced people. Fortunately we always bring appropriate gear to survive outdoors overnight if anything unplanned happens. We are grateful to be here during this time and are happy to be some of the very few tourists left in the country right now that are still contributing to the economy of NZ.

Jesse St Louis thanks for your considered response. We have a world class track system here in New Zealand which us Kiwis struggle to support due to our small low income population. We love tourists but sadly some let us down. Perhaps you could put some cautionary mention in your description for your future Alpine hikes in New Zealand. it would be a horrible thing for a conscience to be weighed down being responsible for a lesser experienced hiker perishing trying to follow in your limit pushing footsteps. Enjoy the rest of your stay.

$15.00! You know the time to go. Like I have said before, Jesse, I do like the off season...most of the time, for most trips. Plus you get photos and video that is less common; there are hundreds of photos from the same vantage point during the prime season. Go for special and unique, I say.

Why did you start at 11:00, Jesse?
@JesseStLouis4 жыл бұрын
Slept in and a had a bit of a drive, still lagging a bit from the previous trek

@@JesseStLouis Oh. Okay. That is understandable. It all worked out though and that is what counts.

Did you or Sam have any real concern on those narrow paths with the sheer drops right there, considering the slushy snow?
@JesseStLouis4 жыл бұрын
a little, but they were pretty wide and we just took it slow
@JesseStLouis4 жыл бұрын
There were some very small side avalanches on the bluffs which were tricky and you had to use all your concentration to stabilize because of the sliding with the slush, luckily it wasn't ice!
