New Zealand's Maori chiefs anoint a 27-year-old queen as their new monarch, a surprise choice hailed as a symbol of change for the country's Indigenous community. Nga Wai hono i te po Paki is the youngest child and only daughter of King Tuheitia Pootatau Te Wherowhero VII, who died on 30 August after heart surgery.

Nothing for you it seems. And that's ok, she's not your Kuīni. But for many Māori she'll work to represent us as a cultural & spiritual figurehead, promoting Māori issues and helping us to help ourselves in moving forward and upwards.
