Күн бұрын

In the first of this weekends gigantic games of International rugby the New Zealand All Blacks played host to England at Eden Park.
The All Blacks had not been beaten at Eden Park for 30 years, was this England chance to make history, and to stop the All Blacks from taking win no 49 there at the fortress.
After an epic battle the week before in Dunedin when New Zealand came out one point winners, All Blacks Head Coach Scott Razor Robertson was looking for an improved performance from his group of players.
Steve Borthwick and the England team had this last game before they would be on a well earned break after playing 19 games over the past 10 months.
In this episode of Inside Rugby with Mark I take an in depth look at the game, what happened through out, mentioning some players that caught my eye for the right and wrong reasons.
Thanks very much for watching my videos. Don´t forget to subscribe to the channel and become a member of our growing global rugby community.
A like and a comment on the video also helps a lot so thanks for that in advance.

Mark telia is actually not very quick , it’s deceiving , has an amazing ability to beat front defenders, but in open space for a winger he is a bit on the slow side , seen him easily caught a few times now and as a result his instinct has resulted in looking for support rather than pinning the ears back .

Congratulations New Zealand, fantastic series which will continue in the autumn. I think what contributed to us losing the game was our attempt to grubber kick in the NZ 22 and give away possession we did this at least 5x and we didn’t benefit from any of them which was incredible frustrating given that we was slowly breaking the NZ game line. Perhaps a lack of experience at key times. New Zealand we look forward to welcoming you to Twickenham. Until then all the best 🏉

Hola Luke, thanks for the comment. Kicking in general play, when analyzed on both sides could be seen as a weakness, for me there were other things that most likely to lead to Englands demise in the second test and two of those where Beauden Barrett and the rest of the bench from the Kiwis. Just my thoughts.

6’ 5” Itoje consistently beat our two 6’ 6”’ jumpers, height isn’t everything he’s a great athlete but we need a specialist lineout coach imo. Like to see Sam Whitelock take that role because i don’t think Ryan can coach every aspect of forwards at test level. Better 2nd half but we didn’t fix the calling and communication from test 1 to 2? Hopefully we’ll end up with 6’8” height and athleticism if Lord or Darry prove good enough. England’s 42 kg lighter pack out physicaled ours for a lot of the game. I want to see Finau succeed at 6 - 6’ 5” third lineout option, hard hitter and runner but wanted to see him show out more, albeit England forced our loosies into defending a lot and 6’s often need test minutes to grow, even Kaino got dropped on the way up. Impressed with Ratima’s confidence and clearances, agree that he’ll end up starting. I don’t know why we consistently kick up and unders too long and uncontestable, done it for years, a major reason Beaden lost his job at 10. Better to kick too short if we insist on missing! Lots of work for Holland and Mcdonald to develop better offensive strategies to crack line speed but can’t fault AB’s heart and will to win. Our bench got us over the line in both tests and England were fantastic this series, respect.

@TheRickpage thanks for the comment. Finau was MIA for me in pretty much two games. Good point on Jason Ryan, he needs some help to sort the lineout it was a shambles. Ratima and TJ for now until Roigard is back later in the year and no room for Christie. I wasnt impressed with DMAC general kicking and he made it hard for Telea and Reece to get opportunities. We cant rely on the bench winning us every RC game......

I thought it was a fantastic game, As an English fan losing both games on paper looks bad, but i personally see a lot of positives as giving the more experienced All blacks team really tough games where they had to work to get the wins. Hopefully England learns from this tour as they need more depth with the Props currently. but looking at the U20s currently they seem impressive. Inside Centres as we only have one currently. I don't think England was ever brilliant with Centres with the exception of Mike Tindall. We usually use them as a second playmaker like Owen Farrell and Jeremy Guscott. As well as quality bench players we lacked, but that can be fixed with more gametime for the youngsters. Great tour of Rugby. eager to see how Razor would fare in the RC.

This was a good example of how a team that played the best for 50 to 60m, still need to bring game breakers on at the 60. Otherwise they will lose. The ABs were very lucky. The changes made including Beauden made the difference. Nevertheless, the ABs were taught a lot of lessons by England: lineouts; box kicking; strategic kicking; defence and locking attackers up. etc. Very good series. This test series was great for the All Blacks and England. English loose forwards were better than the All Blacks as a trio. Cunningham-South was awesome.Itoje hammered us in the line outs. All Blacks had the better front rowers and the better bench. Our bench won us the series.Interesting Itoje isn’t any taller than our locks. He was just more athletic and a master of line out technique. We need to improve in our line outs. We need a halfback that delivers fast and clean ball. Both Christie and Perenara have a poor passing game. Cortez Ratima speed of pass is way better.Taylor was poor in both tests.Aumua needs to start ahead of him. Aumua running game is awesome. He is strong as bull and he is fast as winger.Taylor didn’t have the pace to score that try in the second test.Aumua would have easily scored that try.We can’t afford to miss these opportunities. Tele’a is good winger but he has lost some pace.He just not quick enough anymore.Caleb Clarke is definitely quicker. Tele’a definitely butchered try scoring opportunity in the first half.Perofeta is inexperience at test level. If he had look inside he would have seen two men inside in a better position to score that try.I still believe has potential. Perofeta is good young prospect.McKenzie decision making and line kicking is still not test level. Proctor is best centre in NZ.Rieko was average in both test.It is time to give Proctor start. Finau still has massive potential at test level. But he wasn’t the best in this series. It is time to give someone else a go.I am not Blackadder fan.But we might need to give him start. Sam Darry and Josh Lord need to get start too. That line out wasn’t good.

@markrutherford6010 Thanks for sharing a comprehensive wrap. What sticks out in your comment for me is..........if the inexperience guys are not given game time how are the expected to improve. I wonder where you would rank the players you mentioned against that criteria.

That wasn't good... For a Fiji exhibition match they have to start looking for their Rugby Championship squad: 1. Tu’ungafasi, 2. Aumua, 3. Newell, 4. S.Barrett, 5. Vaa’i, 6. Blackadder, 7. Savea, 8. Sititi, 9. Ratima, 10. D'mac, 11. Clark, 12. J.Barrett, 13. Proctor, 14. Narawa, 15. B.Barrett. Reserves: Bell, Williams, Tosi, Tuipulotu, Jacobson, Christie, Lienert-Brown, Perofeta. I prefer B.Barrett playing impact, he thrives when the opposition is tired and disorganised, not so much when they're energised and prepared for him, but we won't need his impact in this one. Need to give D'mac as much time as we can at 10, or drop him and develop someone else - simple as that. He won't keep Jordan or Love out of the 15 jersey (could surpass Perofeta though). Assume TJ is out for this game or I'd start him with Ratima as impact. Sititi, Ratima, D'mac = combination. J. Barrett and Proctor = combination. Savea at 7, all day.
