He is a marketing man, the essence of a market-maker for that wheelset. Why do you think Zipp give them the kit for keeps? I'd say that presentation warrants a set for all the GCN presenters to be fair to Si.

@@simon7719 didn't you see the thumbnail? They clearly mentions AD on top right corner. So basically you are correct. & almost everyone should know that. But this is probably almost true video despite that fact. As his kom wasn't a lie you can see it on his face. & apart from the techy bits most of the things are true but then again what more can you expect from a wheelset that costs $4k
@simon77193 жыл бұрын
@@datdudeinred in fact I didn't see that. I expect the inconspicuous text saying so isn't an accident. The only reason to buy those wheels is that they're among the top tech-wise. So it's telling that you say "it's true except for the techy bits" :)
@JayLato3 жыл бұрын
Weight specific observation: They are super lightweight, but you have to use heavier tubeless tires, sealant, and valve. The total weight compared to a similar depth wheelset such as the Hunt 44UD running 28mm Pirelli PZero race clinchers and supersonic inner tubes comes out to a total weight savings of only 27g,not 143g savings, at 2x the price. This was calculated with the lightest compatible, non TT tubeless tires the corsa g 2.0

Congrats on the KOM, Si, and that warranty does soften the sticker shock, really nice that they offer that and I experienced a good deal like that when I bent a Skyway Tuff-Wheel in '79 when I was jumping my CYC Stormer, ground pounding it without a landing ramp. @@colincanyon2519 Thanks for your recollection, Colin, and yeah, it was the dawn of a new era, mail-order BMX bikes with Skyway wheels and it was an incredible moment, all the BMX tech suddenly being unleashed for kids who only wanted to go fast and fly high. And I was fortunate to have an after-school job in high school in Frankfurt, West Germany and I bought that CYC Stormer through a little ad in Dirt Bike magazine, which I happily bought every single month, along with all the other motorcycle magazines. And, incredible to think about now, but at the same time I also owned a '73 250cc Maico motocross motorcycle, the one known for its coffin tank. @jasonmcgrody94723 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's basically an ad. But it keeps the lights on (which we all like) and it introduces you to stuff you might be unaware of. It's marketing material but vastly better presented than what most places do. I just bought the new Aeolus RSL 51 wheels and most websites that "reviewed" them did nothing more than regurgitate Trek's marketing material word-for-word. At least GCN tries to make things interesting, which I greatly appreciate.

I don't know which category this should be in, gcn tech or gcn does science or anywhere else. But it would be very interesting to see a comparison of comfort achieved with different rim materials on a carbon/aluminium frame. Or even steel.
