This gave me full body goosebumps. This needs to be heard by everyone who has had addiction part of their life. I started out on scripts, broke my back from a domestic violence situation. Doctor didn't wean me off. A "friend" gave me herōin, I wasn't sick...I felt great. I told myself "I'll never start shooting" Yea right! March 2022 I had aneurysm in my left groin and almost lost my leg. Still, that's wasn't it for me, unfortunately. April 2023, I just couldn't do it anymore. I went cold turkey, which almost gave me a stroke.. but there was a glimmer of hope still in me. I went to rehab. After that I went to a recovery home, which without that step I don't know what would've happened. I have THE MOST AMAZING sponsor! I'm almost 5mos sober and those promises are REAL! I'm currently in my own apartment, with everything I could ever want or need. Addiction is a disease. It can happen to ANYONE!! it doesn't discriminate. I give all thanks to my Higher Power, the program of A.A., and my support system. ❤
