Paulina peak was quite something from the top after walking there from my campground. But after watching this, the geography I was witnessing is far more interesting

Yep it is all interesting surrounding Paulina Peak. Oh man if I watch this movie again it just makes me want to refilm with my sharp new camera!

Is the landscape feature just east of Chemult a caldera?
@MattCookOregon Жыл бұрын
I've looked at that thing so many times. Pretty sure it's just shadows, hills, logging. Think it's worth a video?
@gerrycoleman7290 Жыл бұрын
@@MattCookOregon No. I think it is the real deal. A possible site of an old supervolcano. It also looks like it is within a much larger even older supervolcano. Smith Rock to the north has been determined to be one of the edges of an old supervolcano. Where there is one confirmed there are likely more. Now it is time to do on the ground investigation. I know there are plenty of rhyolites on those areas. Wouldn't it be most exciting if they are chemically tied to the Yellowstone hot spot?

No video?

@@MattCookOregon I don't think there is much to see at individual sites. It would be evidence from multiple sites to put the story together.

top notch. how did you get permission to fly a drone?
@MattCookOregon2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I appreciate this question. I try to be responsible with drones. Many do not. In this case I asked the park service by email so I had written permission. National parks are usually strictly enforced, national monuments not so much. I don't agree with regulations that allow motor boats and cars but not drones, those are so much more destructive, but oh well I follow the rules!

Some advice from across the Atlantic: when visiting the Lava Cast Forest in winter, make sure to know how to reach Casey Ladelle, aka Cascade Heavy Rescue. He’s the guardian angel who comes to recover your vehicle in case the Lava Cast determines you’ll go no further, nor back.

Maybe do something about Hood (unless you have) if you dont feel its played out.. Also eagle cap would be epic video too. Love that east desert footage like John Day!

Thanks! I have a hood summit recorded but haven't got around to editing it. Footage was kinda bad but I will make something good out of it.

I was told that obsidian from the caldera has been throughout the country , It supposedly was traded among native people PS My parent retired to Lapine , and I have done some exploring and it is by far my favorite part of the state
