Note from a nicu/postpartum nurse about swaddling, only swaddle with the arms in until they are starting to be able to turn themselves over because if they turn themselves onto their stomach they need their arms out to be able to turn back to their back

The swaddle is to prevent them from rolling on their stomach...?

The swaddle is to keep them warm and comfortable so they sleep better. The reason for the arm comment is that once they're big enough to roll onto their stomach they might not be able to roll back onto their without their arms out of the swaddle

My hospital told me that swaddles are a SIDS risk from the beginning for 2 reasons 1. Accidental overheating - actually because the baby fights the swaddle abd works himself into a heat trying to move his little arms, as well as it adding an extra layer that might be too much. 2. Because the baby sleeps more deeply and it's better for them in the early days to wake more, even if it's tough on mom & dad

We just have a $200 Moses basket from snuz and I just got the snoo sleep sack from the memo for $60 and like a $10 white noise machine form Kmart and it works the same but it also is way easier because of the Moses basket you are able to use the handles to move it where ever you want like if you were in the living room you cajoled take it and place it on the couch it it’s just so much easier and cheaper. the total is only $270 way different to $1800

We also drilled in some wheels with breaks (you can get them for cheap from a local hardware store) so we could push it back and forth to create a stroller like motion which would put him to sleep in an instant

I just got a 4 in 1 pack n play that was also a bedside bassinet and it was only $130 and it’s something I will use after she doesn’t need the bedside anymore because it’s still a pack n play and it’s cheaper than a bassinet but still works the same and has multiple uses!!!

I got my bassinet off and mom’s group for $40ish and like the bassinet originally cost $300. I feel like mom groups need more hype they are a saving grace.

Note to new upcoming parents: you do any of these “high end” things. Look for the cheap stuff it works EXACTLY the same.

I am 21 years old and just found out I am pregnant. I cried for so many nights, not knowing what to do or thinking I could never be a good mom, but honestly after watching so many videos and talking to several people I am SOO excited to be a mom know. I know its not going to be perfect and not everything will look like rainbows, but I honestly feel that this new season will be such a beautiful journey for me! Typically the ones that are worried about doing something wrong or ‘being a bad mom’ are the ones that are the best. My mom was pregnant at 15 and had 4 children by 24 and of course financially it was a struggle early on but she’s the best mom I could have asked for. Your baby needs your love and attention not items. You got this Momma!❤️

I’m also 21 and just found out I’m pregnant! I’m engaged and planning a wedding so I was so torn with what to do because my fiancé and I want kids but I feel so worried I’m not ready and won’t be a good enough mom. Two things i want to add.. Maybe thats useful for someone.. :) 1. The baby carrier you have from baby bjorn is great ( i have one too) but we quickly realized that its really bad for your back (as my baby boy is really heavy) so we switched to a baby carrier with a belt around your hips and it such a difference! 2. The Hakka.. i also dont leak but i use the hakka for pumping.. Whenever i breastfeed i use the Hakka on my other boob.. its amazing how much milk i get just by using it during breastfeeding.. :)

Volatile compounds are in literally everything… and pure, properly distilled EO’s can safely be used with any age of child or pet (it’s all about dilution!) vs. toxic parabens, phthalates, frangrance, endocrine-disrupting chemicals etc. in a vast majority of products we use around babies everyday…

I just want to say that some of these things are too expensive. Babies grow fast and there is no need to spend $32 on one footie if you are on budget. I personally cannot afford $1100-1800 bassinet and I know that there are many moms like me.

I completely agree! A lot of this is way way out of my price range and it’s kind of discouraging. Any clothing more than 15$ for one piece is too much to me. I’d rather save that for things later down the line or more cloth diaper inserts/ covers/ washable wipes.

They are too expensive for you and that’s fine. Nothing wrong with spending extra if the parents can afford it, same as nothing wrong with spending less if the parents can’t afford it. Everyone buys stuff for their baby based on their budget and financial abilities and she’s just showing what she got and what worked for her. Why should she buy a 100$ bassinet if she can afford a 1k one.

The haaka isn't just for "leaking" or catching your letdown. The suction action will also collect additional milk. Kind of like a manual pump so it helps to get extra milk for bottle feeds or to stock up your freezer stash. It collects a surprising amount, especially with the first feeding of the morning!

I understand their is a lot of controversy surrounding MLMs in general, but the YL Seedling products themselves are really great! I love the lotion and bath soap for my baby! They smell sweet and mild, and her skin is so soft and it’s very delicate for sensitive skin!

Haakaa also makes milk collectors that don’t have the same suction as their silicon pump but you could wear them in your bra, they look like lady bugs lol

im not a mom but I have seen a lot of adds or videos about the Hakka thing and from what I understand you can also use it almost like a pump but you just have to suction it on and then give it a few squeezes and your milk should start to come. and if not the squeeze a few more times and just wait. again I am not a mom and I could be complete wrong.

My baby was 6.5lbs and stayed in newborn for almost 2 months, but then switched from 0-3 to 3-6 right on schedule the weekend he turned 3 months. In hindsight, probably could have skipped the 0-3 month size altogether and just had roomy stuff for a couple weeks, but I had lots of 0-3 from my shower, so we used it for a very short time.

I didn’t leak much, but the haakaa was still extremely useful. Because of the light suction it still pulled milk from me. I had an oversupply and in one sitting I got 15 oz from my haakaa. It helped me not feel horribly full between feedings. I do recommend it, especially for building a stash or just for having a bottle for dad or someone to feed if that’s something you’re interested in.

I know everyone says don’t buy newborn they will grow into 0-3 months but sage was 7.1 so average not super small and she used newborn up until just the other week. She was so small in the beginning that 0-3 month was soo baggy on her. Eventually she was fitting into them but the first 3 weeks they were big. That being said I think buying just maybe 4 newborn zippy onesies is enough. Just try and buy smaller looking 0-3 months

The only true essentials are a safe place for baby to sleep, some way of feeding (either breastfeeding or formula and bottles), a good infant car seat if you drive, weather appropriate clothes, nappies (unless you plan on doing elimination communication) and thier caregiver/s. Personally I can't live without my electric baby nail file, burp cloths (I use plain terry toweling cloth nappies), good quality carriers and a decent backpack style nappy bag.

For anyone interested inv the snoo you can rent them now. Don’t buy such an expensive product when you’re only going to use it for a small amount of time and some babies don’t even like the snoo. Do your wallet a favor and rent it first, see if baby likes it and save money! Your welcome!!!

You don’t have to be leaking to use the Hakaa - it will suck up any extra milk even if you are not leaking. The hakaa is amazing for getting out extra bits of milk, even for a lower supplier like me! I would highly recommend that you try it and you will be surprised that you can get a bit of extra milk even when you think your breasts are empty!

Just information about swadle. It support SIDS. Also there are many others issue about that. So exactly that way how to calm down baby I wont suggest other mums.

Not sure if you're in the US but if so def sign up WIC. They will help pay for certain food while you're pregnant and help with formula if you're low income. Congratulations on your pregnancy. I know it's scary but you can do it!

I'm finally pregnant and just found out that it's going to cost me 4,000 bucks just in doctors fees to birth my baby. Not including the hospital or anesthesiologist or pediatrician fees. I've been trying to get pregnant for years but I had no idea that it would cost that much just give birth. Good luck with your pregnancy!
