Another option for flying with a very young baby is to use a baby carrier in the airport and check a carseat to use when you get to your destination. Carseats are free to check on every airline I've ever flown on and baby weaing keeps them quiet and comforted and keeps your arms free. The only tip I can think of is to use a *serious* baby carrier because you definitely don't want to be fiddling with a Solly or a ring sling when dealing with TSA or surprise diaper blowouts in the airport. Oh, and I LOVE the tip of shipping stuff to your destination so you don't have to pack it. Genius. When flying with babies the less stuff you have to worry about the better!

So glad that works for y’all! We bedshare (have done so for yrs) and our kids are used to varying light and we use a box fan for home and travel. Very low key and has worked for us. Love the new gadgets they come out with. We do a routine based not time based schedule-works great. That way time changes and travel don’t upset the balance we’ve created. Each kids is so different. Pouches are LIFE especially with travel or sitter care.

I am military and travel constantly. My daughter was born in Germany so at 7mo we flew home to the states, then to Texas and back and road trips constantly because family is on opposite sides of the States. Sticking to a routine is key. She knows it by heart her babysitter forgot a step and she pointed to the sound machine and was like you forgot that 😂 I need to look into that sleep tent that'd be so useful she hates us sleeping in the same room.

One absolutely unnecessary baby item I bought was those baby camera w screens for the car. I can clearly see my kid and exactly what their doing- if eating or drinking I can monitor if they’re making a giant mess (saves me a big cleanup!!), if they’re falling asleep, if they’re hot or cold…or just watch the joy of him watching the world go by. Idk why but I love it. I use a mirror when we travel but it’s not the same. Lol.

The slumber pod is a life saver!! We just did our first family trip to Disneyland with our 2 year old who does not do very good sleeping other places but his room at home. I was stressed for the sleeping part but we Set up the slumber pod and he slept all night didn’t even budge!! Literally saved my life lol

We've got a 3.5 y old. He literally did a 10+ hour drive, each way, to visit family in another state, every 3 months, for over 2 years. We did the first one when he was 5 weeks old. And almost every tip you gave we've tried and found helpful! And if I had known about the sleep tents back then I would have absolutely tried that too. On the plus side: he tolerates decently long car rides in his car seat pretty well, even now. The tolerance dropped once he was tall enough we had to face the carseat forward because it was harder for him to prop his head and sleep. But he still does car rides pretty well. On the bad side of things: he HATES being in the car seat if the vehicle isn't actively moving. 😆 We've never flown with him. I'm definitely dreading that day. And I love the casual mention of the nun while you were breastfeeding!!🤣🤣 I love it when anyone makes breastfeeding in public normal.

Kidmoto is an airport shuttle service with car seats installed in the car. My husband and I chose this over renting a car and having to install a car seat ourselves. Was super simple to use but is not available in all cities/locations.

We traveled internationally with a 4 month old (10 hour flight). My best advice is show up EARLY especially with lap infant. And don't even try long layovers... we had an 8 hour layover and that was a FAIL.

My tip when flying internationally (7-8h time difference) was to let her soooo tired and wait for bed time in LOCAL time, it took everything from us: screen time, playing, running, drawing, snacks trying to adjust the schedules... To do it, but the baby waking time the next day was always the same (in LOCAL time, 7am, as at home). Good luck mamas ❤️😂

Such a great guide! We love the Slumberpod too. We use our Vava monitor to watch out baby and the temperature in the tent. We've had great luck renting baby gear when traveling to major cities (Baby's Away). Also, our Graco carseat can be used without the base in any car. We don't travel that way every day, but it works.

I can’t believe she willingly goes in her cot lol my 20 month old hasn’t slept in her cot for like 8 months and before that she woke every hour or more. Co-sleeping saved me but I would like my bed back 😂. Any tips? She’s absolutely loses her mind the second I put her in her cot. Wondering if I should just buy a toddler bed X

We did the taking cara babies course since she was 6 months old - sleep training made her an independent sleeper! Keeping to a routine has helped her too, but there has been a few times she tested her independence and choice not to sleep!
