This is our walkthrough of the Newburgh Mall in Newburgh, NY from March 14, 2019. This is an extremely forgettable mall with far too many LED lights for its own good. I don't have anything really interesting to say about Newburgh Mall.
Songs used in this video (in order):

Steve Gray - Wonder Groove
-------------------------------
I'd like to say a few words about being an ambassador to your local malls. We have been taking the time to visit all the malls within a reasonable driving distance to check up on them and see how they are doing. Also filming an updated video every year or so, regardless of the lack of many changes, just so there is a video record of the health over time. We think this is an important thing to keep tabs on, especially in these wildly turbulent times. The current health emergency has accelerated the impending Retail Apocalypse we've all been talking about these last several years. This was already a big problem, but the shutdowns and restrictions have made the issue 5x worse and likely hastened the death of the enclosed shopping mall.
I know we've all been on pins and needles wondering how bad the fallout is going to be from all of this.
There really is no way to know exactly unless we ALL go and do our small part to make it known how it turns out. I implore you, if you have the means to pick an area you would like to be an ambassador for, and go document your local malls. Whatever your medium, it doesn't matter, any and all documentation is necessary and vital in this day and age. Whether it be on Social Media, Flickr, KZbin, any platform gets it out there and preserves it for posterity. We can't paint this picture unless we all grab a brush...

We utilize the value-for-value model here at RRR. Our product is free, and we're not asking you to pay for it. If you received value in any way from watching RRR, you can help us by donating, if you feel like it. Any little bit helps us to keep corporations and advertisers out of the decision making process. Your donation will keep us ad-free, and in turn, it will give us the opportunity to get to more far-flung locations to help tell this tale of retail instability.
This is a non-profit project and every penny will go back into the gas tank for future trips!

I live in Newburgh and I can honestly see it turning into Rolling Acres 2.0 with the way it is at this point. There used to be another mall in Newburgh i heard about back in the 1960's to sometime in the 80's called the Mid-Valley Mall and apparently it had a Grand Union Supermarket, JCPenney and a Woolworth as well as a cinema. But it got turned into some crappy strip mall and now we're left with this half dead thing we call a "mall". This is why i started going to other malls out of town like the Poughkeepsie Galleria and Palisades Center.

There was a JC Pennies until the late 90's, but no movie theater. There wasn't a Grand Union either, but there was a Price Chopper where Planet Fitness is now; and an A&P half a mile down the road where Big Lots is now. Mid Valley also didn't have Woolworths, but there use to be one on Broadway where the DMV is now. Who ever gave you your information was all fucked up.

This mall is so dead. Even if it's farther I'd still rather to to the one in Middletown

Why though? (Just wanted to hear your opinion as someone who's considering moving somewhere in the Hudson valley.)

i live in a neighboring town and everyone refers to it as the “shoeburgh mall” bc like half of the open stores are just shoe stores... i feel like once old navy left was the tipping point i’m genuinely surprised the mall still has as many open stores as it does. at the end of the day it’s more of an over glorified enclosed strip mall bc there’s barely any clothing stores, but the ones that are there aren’t of quality. if you actually want to shop at a mall, everything is just in reach, the middletown mall being 30 minutes away, the woodbury commons being 25 minutes away, the poughkeepsie mall being across the bridge. even though newburgh is notorious for being a bad area, they really are trying to turn it around for the better, going from the waterfront inwards. it would be cool if broadway could be restored to the booming shopping district it was 70+ years ago, but at the very least, they should renovate the newburgh mall. everyone goes there at least once a year, but if it had popular stores or things to do most people would gladly drive 5-10 minutes there than going on the highway to middletown or dealing with the parking and mass amounts of tourists at the woodbury commons. but that’s just my take from what i’ve observed

Spent many of my teenage years in the 80s there. That's where everyone hung out. Also upskate N.Y ( remember the roller rink). Go to the mall then catch a flick, was the best times! These poor kids today have no idea. Sometimes toomuch technology is not a good thing. Oh yeah who remembers space port? ( I believe that was the arcades name). I left Newburgh and joined the military in 88, never looked bad. Highest crime rate in N.Y state for a few years in a row I remember. Will never forget the memories though

I can’t believe cosmos is still open. Personal touch is where I had my haircut my whole childhood. Claire’s lol. I see the space where the arcade was is still locked up and unused. Sad times.

Great video of a mall whose only interesting features are the Mexican restaurant and the library (good repurposing of a store.) The mall reeks of bland, unimaginative, neon less two color tone Simon. I think your husband in narrating one video about a mall said, "Simon. Yuk." And I agree. I didn't know Office Depot was still hanging on. I'm impressed Sears is hanging on. For now. This place looks like it's one big closing away from dying mall status.

Yes the Library along with Office Depot are the only reasons I still go to that mall.

Tbh now when I went to the mall, it's dead, I only go there only to go to fye to buy kpop albums, but I really want them to add like a arcade or something when the bon ton was or where that old dollar store was because the mall is just dead, but overall, the pizza place is good, some stores are good ig

Couldn't wait for the new mall and stores to open up across the street, but the powers that be voted it down. This mall has to be the worst one in the Hudson Valley.
