Soft approach to let them get away with it. Appoaching you while you're actively flying a drone, trying to move you off a public footpath and assault. Not worth calling the police since they won't do anything, or at the most issue a NFA after a short while. Better to just go to their employer, or the Newbury Racecourse who hired the security company. Send them a letter before claim, and ask for compensation. Once they realise the company they hired costs them money and reputation, they will think twice about using them again.

My own personal opinion is that, if you going to do public photography on public land, you are going to be approached by security in some form or another at some point whether you like it or not. . If they assault you, you have to get the police involved and see it through. Take them to court if you have too but you can't just walk away. Sometimes taking things further is just as important as filming in the first place.

@@weaversarms Exactly..... it's on film that he was assaulted by a man in public who just happens to be employed as a security guard at premises ACROSS the street, so he would be well within his rights to defend himself and to prevent the drone from being hijacked/crash landed (by a terrorist hijacker.... as its still classed as an aircraft) etc. He's cannot use his SIA badge as a defence as he has already left the premises (he's only security within the premises) to commit criminal activities.

Paul, it’s not all that easy when you have very expensive camera equipment in one hand. However if the auditor was as adept as Spencer Tracy was in the film Bad Day at Black Rock when he gave the guy (played by Ernest Borgnine) a good duffing up with one arm then maybe go for it. It’s all a bit of a trade off really, what are the pros and what are the cons, but the use of force is likely to make a lot of paperwork or writing statements etc and must only be used when absolutely necessary. I’m sure The camera man made the right call, he weighed to a nicety the situation in the blink of an eye. I’m fairly sure he would much rather be enjoying the racing or eating his fish and chips which I might add were well deserved after this video.

OSM streets shows a public right of way running alongside that road. They build these developments over public rights of way and then think they can apply their policies. In the Ken Livingston video when he was told to stop filming in Westfield shopping centre, he said that part of the planning requirements were to keep the public rights of way open. He knows because he helped sign them off.

Remember if a security guard touches you and your in public or on public ground , ie.out side their area of responsibility its assault and as its an indictable offence you can use your powers as a civilian to arrest the guilty person ,as covered by common law , you can used what you deam reasonable force to hold that person untill police arrive , if you have detained the person out side their designated area you have them.banged to rights FACT public bus STOPS AND NOT be placed on." Private land " if the bus service is "scheduled" and available to the public it's a contractual obligation under the PSV /PCV act that no.passenger should be required to.travel through or upon private land to reach the bus stop

Your comments are so riddled with falsifications they are a joke. Common Assault is a 'summary offence' so no powers for a member of public. A place such as Newbury racecourse can have its own bus stops and train stations which can be opened up on race day but normally have no service to them. So race day the access roads are opened up to the general public and buses/bus stops provided for their use. The land is still however private and they can request you to leave.

Many thanks never seen Newbury racecourse from the air and it was last weekend on Saturday. The horses have a chip like dog's and cat in the necks for identifying it's the right horses running. The security guards was outside their jurisdiction did a great job 👍

Wow, do you know eith this footage how easy it is too have their sia badge removed and if you wanted too take it too police press charges. This is amazing and would stand up in court as long as you bring diagrams and a road map area of where you were with the drone footage also.
