This isn’t FIFA lads. We can’t sign the likes of Kvaradonna at this moment in time due to ffp. Szoboszlai was interested in Newcastle but we can’t complete with Liverpool for now. And Tonali did want to join. Another internet myth. Howe wouldn’t have signed him if he didn’t want to come. It’s a key requirement when we sign anyone. Barnes is excellent for where we are now and he’ll get better. His goals and assists stats are up there with the best in the league.

Newcastle can't do what Chelsea and Man City did when they were taken over. It's because of those clubs that FFP was introduced. And on the subject of Barnes, check out his stats compared to the best wingers in the league. His stats for instance are better than a £100m Grealish.... Grealish in the Prem... 150 apps, 23 goals, 26 assists. Barnes in Prem... 146 apps, 35 goals, 25 assists. Bear in mind that Barnes played in a struggling Leicester side. Barnes' stats are very similar to Saka's too, and stand up well against the other top wingers. Newcastle signed Pope from a relegated team, nearly won golden glove, conceded joint least amount of goals in the Prem.

The season before Mane signed for Liverpool he scored 11 goals for a decent Southampton team and everyone was criticising them for paying £40m because he wasn't a big name at the time. I have a feeling we'll see a similar story play out with Barnes - not saying he'll be as good as Mane, but everyone is writing him off because he's not a big name. His goal contributions from last season speak for themselves - more than players like Olise, Grealish, Eze, Sancho, Jota, Trent, and Sterling.
