Awdry's writing for these stories is just mind-blowing and stupendous. Him being a Welsh church reverend and enthusiastic railroader is quite an ensemble. But him gravitating towards the modest inspiration of railroading is why so many people want to become railroaders and live by sufficiency as much as he did when he had his time here on Earth. The Railway Series will always remain as a invigorating, wonderful, aureate, and all-inspiring content rich series indeed 💯💯💯

You know, I can't help but admire Duke's bravery. It's a pity the TV series hasn't shown more of him over the years, since the only four episodes he had major appearances in.
@TheropodHunter6 жыл бұрын
The show really needs to bring him back. Also, nothing (other than Mattel's decision) is preventing them from now featuring the Culdee Fell locomotives.
@nityking15 жыл бұрын
I'm afraid if they brought back Duke it would feel forced and they would alter his character for sure. I think Mattel should leave Duke where he is, and his good legacy standing. I would love to see the Culdee Fell locomotives come back though.

I know it’s a red engine but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s Stanley. The story Granpuff mentions that a lot of different engines came and went on the Mid-Sodor railway.

I'm not sure if this was intended by the Reverend, but do you suppose that Falcon derailing in this story is a callback to all the other Narrow Gauge stories where Sir Handel keeps slipping between the rails? I literally did not think of that until now

Tallyllyn was built in 1864. In the Ralway Series books, Skarloey was built with Tallylln at the same time. The Railway Series, for the most part, takes place from the 1940's to 2011. This story most likely takes place somewhere during the 1900's and 10's, as it is mentioned that the Duke died at war when the line closes down. Skarloey and Rheneas's 100th birthday would be in 1964, which checks out with our Railway Series timeline, and the publication of the book "Very Old Engines", which features the 100th birthday, in 1965.

We don't know how the engines were feeling when Thomas was telling the story, but I'm just gonna pretend that James & Toby were happy 100% of this episode. I'm just gonna pretend that Gordon & Percy were sad 49% of this episode, but happy 51% of this episode when Thomas was telling the story too. It’s now been confirmed many years later that the unknown dark red engine is another variant of Albert along with the blue Falcon version and an American version, Alfred and Atlas were two American engines who’s models were dismantled years ago and John was also an engine dismantled long ago, the red Rheneas lookalike is called Jennings, it’s actually Gerry instead of Jerry, there was only one Mine Engine, and that Albert Jim and Tim were the three engines sold off in 1936
