I am not a Conservative member or supporter but Labour will be a nightmare. If you think it is bad now, wait when Labour get in the next election. Most of our problems starting in 1997. It is very difficult to role back lots the laws, etc from then. The civil service don’t help, just look at Sue Gray. Something that really concerns me is, when discussing the upcoming election with my family, I'm suggesting we need to vote for reform. The answer I get is "there's no point, they're not going to win". It really angers me that such defeatism exists within my own family. This is how the media can skew results just by convincing people what the popular vote is. If people don't vote, simply because they think they're backing a losing party, it becomes a self fulfilling prophesy. We really need to do everything we can to convince everyone to cast their vote. We've already seen what happened in the mayoral elections in London.

Here in Canada, the traditional position of the three main parties was this: The Liberals were just left of centre. The Conservatives (called Progressive Conservatives before; there's an oxymoron for you) were just right of centre. The NDP were considerably further left than the Liberals but still within sight. Nowadays, the NDP are so far left they've fallen off the page, and the Liberals are not far behind. The Conservatives, in the meantime, are still just a little right of centre, in fact, they've moved closer to the centre than before as they are standing up for traditional liberal values such as freedom of speech and tolerance, two values the Liberal Party of Canada detests. So, when liberals look over their shoulders, conservatives look far right because of how far left the Liberal Party has lurched, when in fact, the Conservatives haven't moved any further to the right at all. The centre for the Liberals is now just a speck on the horizon.
