I do not encourage anyone to enter culverts, unclog anything, or enter flooded areas as it can easily become deadly without the proper training
I unclog drains for fun in my spare time (I have been trained in culvert inspections for years with private co.) and I am osha trained.
Exploring anything abandoned can be dangerous or deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any abandoned structures. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal, and when possible I seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and I leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures and only leave footprints. I assume all the risks and responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. There could be nails, asbestos, falling concrete, soft floors, animals, or other hazards. Thanks for watching.

Quinine is indeed present in trace amounts in tonic water. The indigenous people in South America taught the Spanish that you could use quinine (Chinchona) bark to treat malaria. The Brits picked it up and taught their troops to take it in British India, and the troops started mixing it with sugar and carbonated water to reduce the extreme bitterness, thus creating tonic water. (And of course the Brits mixed their beloved gin with it, leading to the gin and tonic.) Nowadays it's only used in very tiny quantities to impart flavour though. Quinine is actually still used as a medicine of last resort though, because it works against the most dangerous type of malaria in some parts of the world where it hasn't evolved resistance. (It also makes tonic water glow under a black light!)

Quinine is prescribed for muscle cramps as well. For several years in the 2000s my Mother had a prescription for quinine for this purpose (she has since recovered). I was aware of its former use as an anti-malaria drug, but not that it was still used for other purposes.

Wow! I remember when we'd hang out with my Dad on the weekends. He'd have sodas with styrofoam labels. I loved peeling them in as straight lines as my young fingers could. I really wish I could go back for a day with my Dad and his orange truck with the styrofoam-labeled soda bottles!

Dang I completely forgot about those styrofoam labels. It’s crazy all the small insignificant stuff we forget but get so excited when we’ve been reminded lol. I love watching this type of stuff, there’s another guy that eats old ass military rations from all over the world dating from recent to all the way back to ww1. Pretty neat stuff all around.

Pepsi and Coke products had those foam labels in the 80s, on 16 ounce glass bottles. And probably into the early 90s I believe. Also, as you talked about before, those caps had the little gasket in them that kept them sealed so well. Today its so hard to find anything of quality, they make everything as cheaply as possible.

I grew up in the 60s and 70s and I think you are right about carbonation...I found it hard to drink pop (out of a bottle back then) due to carbonation. I don't drink pop any more but it's nothing like it was when i was a kid.

I think that’s what made our soda/pop good. There was nothing like an ice cold pepsi on a summer day with that fizz tickling your nostrils as you take a sip. Nothing more refreshing to a kid in the 80’s without coming out of the garden hose. Lol

Little wings, can you make the flight The rain is getting heavy. There's a storm tonight A summer drive home, the ocean close below Will you make the morning light? Oh, little wings in flight The path you weave, most certain to achieve The everlasting will of little wings in flight Do you feel weary? Time is marching slowly Nothing matters more than little wings in flight Do you think that you'll find your way Little foolish wings tossed about in the wind of fate Do you hope? Do you think you stand a chance The wind is steering colder. The sea is growing bolder, little wings Do you hear the water on the rock though I do believe you can make it through Oh, little wings. The spirit is you All you need to do is fly away Hey-ay, little wings, fly away Little wings, can you feel the bite The end's a little nearer, everything will be alright Little wings, can you fly a little stronger The shore can't be much farther. It won't be much longer, little wings Little wings. Oh, good bye little wings Your journey is over. Are you sleeping peacefully Try, try again. Try again some other time Everything remains except the sound of your little wings in flight In flight In flight
