You should tighten the two bolts of the controllarm when the car is sitting on its wheels or with a jack under it. The way you did it causes the rubber bushings to wear out faster than it should.

1) As your reinstalled springs looks new, what springt did you used? Oem or aftermarket? 2) How thick are the used spacers? 1 inch? 3) Can you tell how much height difference you got with the new setup? And can you tell how much the new springs did and how much the spacer?

Hi! I am thinking of installing rear spring spacers, but is it worth it? Will this change the stability of the ML? Kindly advise how is your experience, thx!

Nice vid and build, I read all the comments... Did you run into issues with negative camber after the lift? I went with 30mm spacers (25.4mm is 1in) and got quite a bit of negative camber, even with upper A arms pull all the way out.
@jaskolp4 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yeah I have some negative camber (was going to get an alignment but never got the chance), but my spacers are only like 20mm. Eventually I'll get that sorted, but at this rate it'll be whenever I get new tires too. I saw a video series (Legitstreetcars) where they lifted an amg version with like, 4 inch spacers, and had to do that to solve the camber issue.
@SenorReso4 ай бұрын
@@jaskolp Good luck man! I'm curious to hear how that goes. I might do 15mm down the line. I'm realizing these things are not the easiest to modify without some fab work. I actually called the shop @Legitstreetcars used, and it wasn't included in the video but they had to weld on additional material to the rear upper A arm mounts to get it aligned.

hello from Lithuania! please i need short video about roof rack,how its fix on the roof
@jaskolp3 жыл бұрын
Hello! I'm currently working on a couple more videos, one on the ML so I'll be sure to mention the roof rack. In short though; It is secured on bars for the ML that are mounted on the roof rails. The rack and bars were bought online for around $200 total, so they aren't the highest quality but they're good for light use.

Love that machined piece 1:17 excellent ! Extra jacks for safety 1:39 What a great project, great job ! Still pushing around a 2000 ML320 in north Georgia I've had since, you're not going to believe this -- 2002. How did you acquire your mechanical training /skills? Inspiring me to grab a ratcheting flex head wrench and get after it. Like 150 9-11-22

Thanks! I bought the spacers from another ML guy who decided he wasn't going to use them. Think there's a few online shops where you can buy them still. I mostly learned everything by seeing what others had done and then doing it myself. Although there's a healthy dose of "doing it myself" since with these older ML's there are a lot of 20 year old dead forums online lol.

What is the height from floor to the center of the fender now?

Just under 34 inches, after letting the springs settle and after towing for awhile.

hi from Kazakhstan i have this lift spare with size 38mm .I have questions, mi lift sapre is quad, it have problem with instalation ? if install that with size 38mm, car be bigger to 38 mm or more?
@jaskolp3 жыл бұрын
It might be a few mm taller than 38. My spacers were 20mm and I think I got a little more than that in lift after everything settled. The hardest part was getting the lower control arm back into place. With 38mm plates be prepared to use a couple of jacks or something to get the lower control arm back into position.
@СергейКорчагин-х4ф3 жыл бұрын
@@jaskolp thanks a lot. And about spacers, if it viev like a quad, it haven't problem with installation? On you videos spacers like a circle
@jaskolp3 жыл бұрын
@@СергейКорчагин-х4ф As long as the spacer sits snug on the plate on top of the coilover assembly, has bolt holes, and has a hole in the center for the top of the shock to clear it should work.

Hey i got a question did you do any lift adjustments to the front? also did you need spacers for the front too?
@jaskolp2 жыл бұрын
The front suspension is adjustable torsion bars instead of coilovers like the rear has. A couple years ago I went ahead and tightened the bars so they gave me about 1 inch lift. You can get more lift out of them, but that requires taking the bars apart instead of just adjusting the bolt under the ML.
@antontri04839 ай бұрын
Is it only the back that goes up? Does the front need to be raised or not?
@jaskolp9 ай бұрын
The front suspension is torsion bars, and can be adjusted up/down with I think like a 19mm socket wrench.

Please advise! I ordered and received two spacers for my 01 ML320 but they are 1 1/2 inch thick, it's a 1/2" more than what you installed you know if this can cause problems to the drive shafts?
@jaskolp2 жыл бұрын
I'm honestly not sure, but I know people who have put 2 inch spacers on and as far as I know haven't reported any problems beyond needing an alignment (and having difficulties getting it set right). There's one guy on KZbin (LegitStreetCars with an AMG ML) who I think put 4 inch spacers on, which might have been a bit overkill. But on the trip he filmed the axles didn't break, so that's good for you, lol. Also be prepared for pain getting the control arms back in; with mine I had to use a jack (wish I had 2) in order to get the bolt holes to line up, and with a taller spacer it'll be even more difficult. Since yours are only 1/2 inch taller you shouldn't have much more trouble than I did, but it was something I wasn't expecting.
