Here is a Jackpot report. Last month, the wife and I went to the Beau Rivage in Biloxi. I like to play Mississippi Stud, and I caught quads. The payout was $6,400 in total based on my ante amount. I was feeling good and later that day we went next door to the Hard Rock for dinner at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. (Best crab cakes I have ever had, BTW) While we were waiting for the reservation, I played a little Mississippi Stud there. It was just myself and an Asian chap a few years older than me. I was playing $25 ante and he was playing $100 ante. I was there for about 10 minutes, and then we went to dinner. About an hour later, when we finished dinner, I strolled back over to their MS table, and saw the same Asian chap sitting there, and I was thinking he probably was close to broke by now, since that game has such a large volatility, and betting $100 per hand can wreck you. To my amazement, he had just hit quads with the $100 ante, and he collected $40,000 plus there was a bonus on the table which was almost $2,000 more, so he took down just shy of $42,000 during the time I was stuffing my face. It really put my little $6400 winner into perspective! 🤔

I started playing Riichi mahjong online in 2020 as a lockdown hobby. I’ll have to check out this book.

I think it's INSANE that online sports gaming (Draft Kings, etc) is still not legal in California.

Regarding the conversation around "Is video poker easy". A great analogy to this is someone who plays Pai Gow Poker trying to go play Pai Gow Tiles.

riichi (sounds like leech) is a very japanese version of mahjong. I grew up playing this version, only 2 scoring lines (3 and 4). I think I picked up a PDF of this book (from LVA I think) years back just for the nostalgia factor. Riichi is differs enough from the jewish and chinese versions that it deserves its own treatment.

WRT video poker. It can also be confusing because playing card poker vs video poker the payouts are very different. For example In VP 3 aces is just 3 of a kind. In card poker it’s worth much more. Just my observation 🤷♀️

Love you guys, but I sometimes miss your show only because your thumbnail style is always different. I just scroll right past it. Would catch it more if it was recognizable. Keep up the great show.

There's a guy reaching back for a beer at about 1:15:30 in the Mugsy's Girls movie. It doesn't really look like Anthony, but it was 40 years ago. That's my best guess at spotting him in the movie. A "clip" below: kzbin.infoUgkxcui0kOA-zUB-Ydmhur3rM1TUe7Q-J-l7?si=D1-XSODEzVR-PhV6

Looks like the chip tray needs to be rotated 180 degrees, so the stacks of chips are tilted toward the "dealer" as in real life.
