I just love your photographs, and the sense of humor that goes along with them. I have to say, I have seen more than my fair share of sideways precipitation since moving to Newfoundland. It is so windy, nothing falls straight down, it's all sideways. I've stood at my window watching torrential rain blowing uphill. LOL You should also visit the Burin Peninsula, there are some really beautiful photo ops here too.

If your coming to NEWFOUNDLAND and your looking for great weather you want to come the last 2 weeks of july and forst 2 of August. Summer takes along time to get here due to the ocean but the winter takes along time to get here to. It only gets below -10c in st.johns for about 2 weeks in February other then that its -5c - -9c. Also in the warmer weather, mid june on, the fog "burns" off after the first couple morning hours

Its called the Battery because I was set up with canons to protect the entrance to the harbour. Also there was a huge net set up that ran across the entrance below the water to catch UBoats from entering during WW2. There was actually one caught. During WW2, Newfoundland was a stopping ground for American Naval ships going overseas to fight in the war. They refuelled and supplied the ships there.

This is my first comment on your channel. I have been watching your videos for a couple of years now. Well here is the comment 😅 I really like your photo in the Battery area. The fog does add character and tells a story with moody feel to it.

I've been testing this version of TPAi, and I can fully understand. It's brilliant. Although everybody else has caught up with the denoising, and since version 3.1, TPAI has gotten worse, it's still holds proper value, if you just hold on to this version. I've been using LRc and ON1 Denoise 'till now. But it's a constant battle if you want the best at all times. Then you'll be ruined and sad, even if you got the best. Since the winner of photo enhancement switches place on the board every month. It's so simple just to keep LRc, and use TPAi to make the enhancements, post RAW processing. Gavin, you need to do more cityscapes, it's proper fun, and can be a great background as well as a foreground to a nature subject. :)

There are lots of cannons at the top of Signal Hill which were strategically placed to defend the harbour. The light that you could see over the top of that hill was probably coming from Quidi Vidi which is in that direction. I think that I was there at the same time as you as it was warm in the west but on the day that I left St. John's it was 1 degree. Had the same problem as you taking photos of that incredible coastline in less than ideal light. Yes I was dressed for the cold but even then it wasn't enough.

We received Stories Within Stories by Gavin Hardcastle a couple of days ago. We just quickly flipped through it and then I started reading it that night. Another fantastic book, and I'm only about 1/4 way through! Obviously, already the 2nd best book ever written! We did have a small sh*t fit when we saw that our book did indeed NOT have Amanda's signature in it. But quickly felt better when Amanda's signature Unicorn was carefully tucked inside. Perfect for a little book mark too 🦄 Another very well written book. Your personality shines in this too Gavin... I can hear you all over the pages.👌Pure talent along with an awesome sense of humor.😂 We did peak at the last page where we saw what was likely the very best image in the whole book. Page 120. That image by the Grumpton himself. Miss you guys running around together. We both wish you and Amanda the very best. Take care of each other 🤝 Us out in the sticks~ ~ain't it nice? 👌

Wish I found you earlier. Have you heard of gannets? A bird that dive bombs its prey like an osprey. Difference being osprey are not the flocking type, fairly solo birds. Gannets dive bomb for capelin fish for a scene like Pearl harbour. There are a few vids showing them, notably by BBC did a good vid shot of them doing what they do best. I always wished a drone pro would do them justice flying among them.

Interesting that you were still dealing with non stop low clouds and rain in May. I might shoot for June next year.
