She is the most iconic female vocalist in Gospel music. Her passing was very sad, yet her legacy lives on!

This needs a love button. I grew up on Howard and Vestal Goodman along with The Gaithers. I absolutely love Vestal Goodman's voice. True woman of God. She had an amazing voice and she loved singing for God

I don’t know how many of you have ever read Howard’s book but he tells how softly Vestel sang when they first married. Then they went to a big meeting to sing and there were no mikes. He said when Vestel got up to sing it was not Vestels voice coming out. God still does miracles.

Vestal Goodman is one of the greatest vioces ever PERIOD. She is overlooked because of her singing Christian music and that's really sad. I remember my Mom and Dad taking us to see them in concert when I was a Little and I still remember the chills I got hearing her live. God blessed us well with her gift

Aside from being a popular drag number, this song was a SENSATION in the gay country bars during the 1990's. As a DJ at that time, I would have more requests for this song than any of the current hits and it was guaranteed to pack the dance floor to capacity every time. There was a rumor going around that the song was intentionally pulled from circulation at that time due to it's popularity in the gay community, although I cannot confirm whether this is true or not...

@@timothyicenhour3119 Johnny Cook seemed to alway's be able to go up just one more :) Think his highest "Looking For A City" rendition is on his "Unforgetable" Album. (1977) It's on KZbin..... His voice type is male Mezzo-soprano which is wayyy higher than a tenor...... Probably the main reason he could sing so high & in full voice on all his songs...... I too would have liked to have seen them together singing this great old classic! 😊
