Great choice! I have a Goodman unit as well….I’ve used the same AC Company for 22 years…when I needed a new unit 14 years ago they recommended Goodman…it came in far less expensive and had a better standard warranty. I’ve never had any major issues with it and it runs nonstop here in Florida. I get it maintained twice a year - spring and fall - for about 80 bucks and I can always rely on it. I recently asked if it’s getting time to consider replacing it due to the age and my AC Guy said he thinks I’ll get another five years out of it. I’ll definitely replace with another Goodman when it’s time.

I install most brands. And I don’t get many call backs, my call backs were mechanical issues. The issues were leaking pro press fittings. I install Bosch and I don’t have any call backs, but one I had a bad unit out of the box. Now I don’t think the customer should have to deal with a defective product out of the box. Now I have an unconditional warranty, I actually had 2 defective units out of the box in the same week. The second one was a 18k Daikin cooling only. We were working with tech support for 4 days and still broken. Solution I ripped out the Daikin and put in another brand at my loss. The Daikin is sitting in my driveway. I have not gotten refunded on the Daikin. And I still have a broken Bosch. I’m really starting to get fed up with the hvac trade. I had 7 contractors quote installation of a ducted HVAC system in our 1908 3800 sqft home. My approach was what you suggest here often, find the company I like and not the brand. Of the companies I reached out to, about half of them seemed to have no preference for brand, technology, sizing in some cases - which was really off-putting. It seemed like they were just fishing to find what I wanted, whereas I asked every company to propose what they thought was the right system. Eventually I landed with a contractor who spec'd a dual fuel system from Amana. At the time I knew nothing about the brand but in getting quotes from big and small companies all local to the area, the Amana was the best value/efficiency compared to the alternatives. Most importantly, my contractor was able to speak to why they like the Amana brand and laid out the pros and cons of spending money on various components of the system. In the end, the system they originally quoted was unchanged when we signed a contract with them because they clearly have worked in homes like ours and with Amana before. That's what drove me to go with them, they drink the [insert whatever brand name] coolaid.

Smart man! It was affordable and has performed beautifully. I have Price come to my house spring and fall for scheduled maintenance and it never lets me down. I asked him recently during the spring visit if I need to start considering replacing it due to age (14 years) and he said he expects I’ll get at least another five years out of it. THAT is a Contractor I trust…. This is why they’ve earned my loyalty…they treat me right and recommend quality equipment that works with my budget that has a great standard warranty.

Though the brand name Daikin is catching up in the USA, the fact is in the rest of the planet it's at the top along with Mitsubishi. Daikin is the biggest HVAC manufacturing company on the planet. Well known in the rest of the world for top notch quality of their products and a pioneer of many HVAC related technology innovations. I have a Daikin fit system in my house, but I found out that many of the so called Daikin comfort pros out there discourage customers from installing inverter systems like the Daikin fit and that's because they don't know how to install it right, and never admit it. Daikin should weed them out of their ecosystem coz it degrades their name. Anyways, I finally found one , they did a great job, the system works great, my electric bill dropped by 60% and I couldn't be happier. Finally, may I also mention, that Josh and his team were my advisors on my HVAC project. So thanks Josh!

@@jacobcyriac432 Thank you. I have 2 local contractors telling me they won't install without a backup heater and that it's necessary for when it gets cold and if the heat pump freezes up and stops working. My thinking is, if heat pumps were so unreliable as to require a separate ,heating system, why would they exist for heating at all...? No one installs extra back up electrical baseboard heat when they have an oil, propane, or natural gas furnace. They are recitals enough so that there's not much risk of breakdown. I'm in Nova Scotia... We used to get, and still sometimes we do but much more infrequently, temperatures down to minus 20 and below, but the coldest here in the last 18 years was 2 nights down to minus 27. Will a daikin or Mitsubishi 2.5 tonne machine require a 9kw or even 12kw electric backup coil heater added to the hot air plenum...? This area shows at ~15.9 Celsius for the heating system design size.
@jacobcyriac43211 ай бұрын
I think the most reliable way to provide heat would be using a heat pump till the temperature drops to about 35-40f, and below that with a natural gas furnace( dual fuel system). The Daikin one thermostat can be configured to do that, if required. My suggestion is , you contact Josh from Griffin air, for the best advice regarding the finer details of your project I did and I'm glad I did.

Both technicians recommended to replace the old system instead repairing. First technician told me his company would install Rheem. Second technician asked me which branch that I would prefer. Did you look at the Napoleon furnaces at the show? They really appear to be a step up but we have no local supplier in PA. Boiler tech seems to have reached its climax with everyone favoring negative pressure gas valves and stainless fire tube exchangers. Weil Mclain has really stepped it up with their new Eco units and Bradford with their f2 units. So many people from over seas looking for distributors, several who are willing to sell direct. Air to water monoblock heat pumps, I saw at least 7. I think one of the problems that you dont see more inverters for split systems is they require a rotary compressor. They spent the last 35 years tooling up and perfecting the scroll and they just don't work on variable speed. Small rotaries were always used on refrigerators but now we are looking at 5 ton rotaries. It only took a few years for the entire ductless industry to go inverter but it seems to be taking quite a bit longer with split units. My guess would be compressor availability.

I believe all systems will be shipping with R-32 or R-454b. The new RS-53 is a drop in replacement to replace refrigerant in R410a systems. But, R-410a systems are getting phased out starting the beginning of 2025, although mini splits and window units will be given until 2028 I believe...

Hi Josh. I am considering a 17.2 SEER Two Tage Daikin or a 15.2. My house is 2700 square feet. What would you recommend? The project manager suggested one or the other. I live in sweltering Texas. My Amana has been good but can't keep up with the heat in late afternoon.
@ErrorInvalidName Жыл бұрын
Truthfully unless your house is buttoned up like it should be to support a high seer rating you'll be wasting money as you wont get the eff you're paying for. And to truly know how well your house is sealed up you'd have to have a pressure test done.

Located just outside of Northwest Houston, Texas, the "DAIKIN WALLER TEXAS TECHNOLOGY PARK" allows Daikin to consolidate manufacturing, engineering, logistics, marketing and sales for Goodman®, Amana® and Daikin brand unitary heating and air conditioning products in one location. Regardless of this, I greatly prefer TRANE over all of the other brands - especially for their 2-stage "bullet proof" heat pumps with Climatuff Scroll Compressors. TRANE'S Patented Spine-fin Condenser coils "dwarf" the competition in "size" and "bulk-weight" and therefore the ability to "cool" more efficiently throughout a 100 degree "hot" summer in places like Houston, Texas.

My home humidity is >60 % if thermostat is set higher than 74 degrees. I would like to pick your brain. I have a Bosch 1.0 series unit (48k 60k and I use the 48k setting as well as the accelerated cooling)about 3 years old. My home is 2800 sq feet. Recent upgrades include new whole home duct system, new windows, new spray foam attic insulation, apirle air dehumidifier and we are still having same humidity issues. Should I look into a smaller HVAC unit?
@johnwhite2576 Жыл бұрын
No unfortunately you chose a good brand for Denver or Salt Lake City-good price, efficient esp at heating small, thermostats agnostic, etc, good support for dealers. BUT can’t handle much humidity -it’s a design issue. If you want to really handle humidity you need a true fully variable communicating system, one that has a smaller sensible/latent heat removal ratio. The best are carrier green speed, esp with preheat enabled, and daikin if you want to handle lots of humidity. Esp in trunk season….You can’t be all things to all people. Bosch esp the yeh 2.0 is a great great unit for a dry cold climate, but a very poor choice for say ATLAnta. NB Bosch is made in China.Medea, da

Goodman is owned run by daikin . Daikin is a India company . I like how you said you have tested all these other bands including daikin. How did you test them? Where is your test facilities and what were your criteria? I don't think I would use daikin in a residential application. No one has heard of this company until recently in the USA . I would go with Carrier or Trane. Any HVAC professional can service these units and get parts.

This guy is truly annoying, nothing but opinions. "I won't mention" blah-blah. Daikin is Japanese company and as Japanese company they are good. But most of the stuff is still made in China pretty much like everybody else. Your own personal experience doesn't count, that is what is called anecdotal. "They honored warranty when they did not have to"? Really, be more specific instead of pulling statements like this out of your behind. "some other company treated me ..." blah-blah "I won't mention it" blah-blah. This guy is in HVAC business only 3 years, do you really believe he has solid experience he can draw on? Most of his videos are useless blabber without specifics.
