Yeah i think both New Jeans and Le Serrafim are the beginning of the new gen/era of basically, anti-hype K-Pop. gg usually have larger and more general fandoms- i say this respectfully. gg stans can be hardcore but they typically still have more of the general population listening to them which is why they always top the charts. bg have more hardcore/concentrated group of fans. they will likely be streaming more (as you usually see with armys for example). obviously, this isn't true for every group or fan/listener out there, but now with 2 new gg this year, hybe is here to stay. i personally prefer le sserafim's music over new jeans, but both are super talented and i can't wait for more

NewJeans debut concept is indeed mindblowing and such a fresh air amongst kpop recent release that just felt saturated with the same thing. They still have more things to come, and remember that most idols didn't really have power about what they release, don't put high expectation on them and just enjoy their good music. Atleast with NewJeans debut, i hope companies will start to consider making music that really can be enjoyed and sing to rather than put a bunch of sound for idol to dance

Everything wise NewJeans actually deserves the Rookie Award most. And they will definitely get it. Like Rookie Grand Slam, maybe not bcz of too competitive year. But they must be getting GAON, Golden Disk and Seoul Music awards for sure. Bcz Gaon counts achievements only 6 weeks from debut, NewJeans have better digital and physical performance than IVE during their 6 weeks. Golden disk mostly counts debut albm sales, so NewJeans may get that too. Le sserafim may be getting that too. SMA can be given to 2 artists together like enhypen & treasure got it together so, NewJeans & IVE may get it together. For AAA, it requires votings from 3 different countries - ( korea, Japan & China) and Le sserafim is huge famous in china & japan, so they may get that. If MAMA is not rigged, either NewJeans or Le sserafim will get it bcz they count only debut albm and debut song charts. If it's rigged then kep1er will get it. MMA is a bit blurry now, they usually counts total streams from debut and IVE debuted 8 months before NewJeans. So, even though NewJeans have better records in every way, there is no 100% surety of them getting the award. But they may get Record of the year like Next Level. Bcz they got so many RAK, 144th RAK already before blackpink's new song release.

In 2021, BTS - Butter got actual SOTY and Aespa - Next Level got Record of the year. Plus, NewJeans chart performance is still really good, they already have 512k uls peak on melon and it's increasing every hour, it's still occupying number #1 spot even after blackpink's song release. Tomboy has 551k uls peak. Attention seems to be gonna surpass their peak soon. Attention surpassed LOVE DIVE long ago. And Soty category is not easy this year, bcz Bigbang uls peak is literally 900k the highest this year.

At first I was put off by the ages of the Newjeans members and the whole pervert scandal, so I just ignored the music. Last weekend I was randomly listening to kpop on shuffle and the song came up. I probably listened to their whole album 5 times that evening and watched all the music videos. Cookie is a bit weird and suggestive for me especially when you consider their ages but I really love them. Hurt has to be my favourite, then Hype boy. They deserve all the hype and praises.

My younger sister, who is ARMY, but doesn't really have any other interest in k-dramas or k-pop, watched Friendcation and enjoyed it immensely only knowing V of all of the members. I watched it too, but I'm a fan of most of the Wooga squad members, so I had more context and interest in seeing them doing normal stuff. I suspect that, as you guys said, a big part of the low TV ratings had to do with the fact that most people would have watched it on streaming instead. NewJeans I think has the ability to become a long-term powerhouse group. Their entire vibe gives off a sort of "little sister" feeling, which is refreshing in the sea of "untouchable perfection" that is basically every other girl group out there. If they can maintain fan interest, and pull off a successful comeback sometime next year as well, I think they'll easily become a pillar of the 4th gen groups.

tbh as they said and just like most of us we watched it on disny+ where it had a extreamly good ranking cracking top 10 in every country it was relesed and I think it was no1 in japan and sk. Like in comparision idol variety shows arent that liked plus this want even a pure variety show (like run bts type) its was super laid back and if you arent a fan you might not really enjoy it. In the soop the concept of the show is very diffrent and you really need to be a big fan of the group to enjoy that nonetheless I think it did extreamly well on the targeted audience I personally really enjoyed it

Loud music with clear direction doesn't equal to loud chaotic. Many companies are trying to do this experimental thingy but don't know how to properly execute it. So I find it refreshing to listen to clean sounding music like Lessera and NJ nowadays. Their album were polished and sounds expensive as well. I like TXT's music tho, it's not chaotic. First off, BTS weren't gonna leave Hybe...they are still under contract...secondly, even if they broke up, yeah it would be sad, but that's just 7 times the releases fans would get...have they ever just slacked off and not work hard? I think New Jeans sound more like western pop than other kpop groups at the moment. I don't really know what Korean taste leans towards, I mean they've loved aespa's experimental sounds and now they love the easy listening pop of New Jeans. I think they sound good, but is an outlier in the kpop soundscape right now. I can see it bringing in new fans to kpop, but not sure how it'll shape the sound of kpop going forward.

I haven’t been as excited about any group since I got into Loona in 2018 as I am now about NewJeans. I’ve been kind of out of the kpop loop this year and they pulled me right back in and I know they are young so I hope Hybe will go easy on them but just thinking about what they could be like in their prime makes me excited for their future. There is a lot of potential there and I think the fact that they seemingly came out of nowhere with a breeze of fresh air was a nice mix up to the usual formula of teasing and hyping up a comeback for ages only for it to be mediocre and nothing new definitely added to the appeal.

I don't like girl groups, but hybe has it figured out....the normal kpop sound doesn't do as well anymore, especially in the US (most all kpop fans I know just like bts. Mainly because their versatile discography doesn't have every song sound like loud, trap, kpop). It you have a more chill sound, I think you do better globally.

At first I had to get used to NewJeans sound but now I absolutely love them!!! I have been listening to Cookie, Hype Boy, and Attention on repeat and Hurt is also a great song too. They are so refreshing for K-Pop because I feel like most Girl Groups these days are either Girl Crush, Cute or Sexy and I don't think NewJeans is in any of those categories but in the best way possible. Also they haven't been following any of the trends like doing anti-drop songs but instead its just chill music and also their choreo is lit and I haven't ever seen a girl group dance like them. NewJeans is extremely refreshing in K-Pop and they are definitely the best Rookie Girl Group of 2022. Anyways STAN TALENT, STAN NEWJEANS!!!

the thing about kpop. when i first found bts i was amazed and i thought i was missing something so i looked at other groups but the music was to much for me. but bts has a different sound to me they have easy listen songs and hip hop, whatever you want basically. so after hearing this attention song and le seraphim they have a whole different sound and now that you said it reminds you of old kpop. i might have to look at those songs instead😀

Also in addition to the music, they aren’t being marketed at this cutesy fantasy. The girls are singing in their natural voices, and Hyein’s is on the lower end, especially for her age. Yes they’re wear cute age appropriate clothes, but is has personal touches and even a a funky quality that feels authentic to what teenage girls want to wear and not what frowns men want them to wear. I also think songs that have them as active participants in their crushes and love interests are refreshing as well. They have the appearance of autonomy and it’s not that dichotomy of “bad girl” vs “cute girl”.

It's the thing that frustrated me the most. I convinced my family to get a year of Disney plus subscription and was so excited they were going to be airing kdramas just like Netflix 🤦🏾‍♀️ Just to find out that they restricted it to Asia. Like what was the fucking point? Asia has it's own streaming services like Viu. Anyway we have about 4-5 months of subscription left. I'm definitely cancelling afterwards 🤬🤬🤬

For the viewership ratings, I’m pretty sure most people were streaming it on Disney+ instead of on TV. And a lot of international fans don’t have access to the TV station that was showing it. A lot of ARMYs are part of the streaming generation.
