So he was being friendly to everyone not just her *Hyein's:* her 🧢boy mocking her team's choreography & she felt hurt *Danielle & Haerin's:* 1 🏀boy tries to hitting on them in turn secretly but they find out & take revenge by stolen his jersey in the locker room. They chose their friendship over love That's a smart move to have 4 version of mvs. So peoples will watch it for curiosity & in the same time the song will slowly grow on u bcs u heard it 4 times

Well I don’t think the 🍋 boy is “being friendly to everyone”. If you watch a bit closer, you’ll find his new designs on his arms are blue-based (Minji told him her favorite color is blue, so he makes blue 💙 designs) Also, for Hanni’s situation. I think she didn’t know the dancer is a girl. She probably thought “she” is a boy. That’s why she look shocked while first seeing the dancer taking off her mask. But still, this crush tho turned out being a misunderstanding, she doesn’t seem unhappy. Maybe they will be close friends or maybe they’ll start dating. Who knows lol. Her MV is my fav btw🥰

I understand what you mean by the overused social media stylizing can be a bit of a turn off and that you prefer listening to the song without the MV. The sound is nostalgic for millenials who grew up in the late 90s and early 2000s, so it is something they will dig. But the MV seems to cater more to Gen Zs and the sound is fresh to them since most of them did not grew up listening to this sound. In a way, HYBE seems to be targeting both demographics at the same time.

I'm personally SO GLAD their music sounds like this. Not everything has to be deep, explosive, philosophical, and dark/mature to be a serious art form bro. Sometimes people just wanna vibe out to chill music , not everything has to be a circus showcase with screeching vocals and back breaking choreo. It makes them stand out, it's refreshing and pleasing to the ear. And I know everyone is concerned about the age or whatever, but the member Hyein has been in the limelight since she was 8, this is something she is used to and wants to do with her life, and I don't think we should force someone to stay hidden from the world or whatever when she clearly has a passion for this field and has the talent.

Just try to keep your friendships while growing up, most people fall i love and forget about friends. Your friends will always be there when relationships fail, so give them their place.

I feel like the ultimate aim for New Jeans is pairing a widely liked retro-ish music style with Gen - Z sensibility. And it makes sense because a lot of Gen - Z's favorite music are remixes of old songs. I'd say New Jeans is a coming of age story type group in a gen z setting. Despite that though I find their songs and themes universally relatable because teens of all generations went through similar, and the fact Gen - Z loves to borrow heavily from previous gens for their aesthetic definitely makes everything feel both fresh and nostalgic.

My genuine comments to this video, no hate: 1) It's Kpop, not everything is deep enough that it warrants overanalyzing. 2.) They're teenagers appropriately singing and portraying about what it feels like to have a puppy love/crush in their age. 3.) Not anything related to social media is a critique or commentary of it. It's just a reflection of the reality teens their age are living in. Just like how art or media or content created in a certain period reflects the reality of that time. 4.) As someone who is also grown and not even in social media actively, it's weird to say you hate "everything" social media when you are on it and making profit off of it.

idk if it’s because im a girl and im gen z but i think the concept aesthetic is very visually appealing and recalls a lot of the fashion and “youthful” feeling that y2k/pop r&b songs from the early 2000s had. but it’s overly produced which is why it feels somewhat refreshing??? and for me cause im legit 22, it reminds me of a lot of the girl pop songs from that time and was bound to make its way into K-pop so I’m happy and actually so obsessed with this group

In my opinion, I think this concept is very intentional because it has a youthful vibe/feel to it-which is exactly what these girls are. They're very young (14-18) and part of Gen Z. The concept itself has a late 90s and early 2000s vibe, which millennials can also relate to. I don't mind it at all. I think Attention and Hype Boy are both great pre-releases for them.

1- I like both songs 2- I think the concept is fitting giving their ages. mhj also loves these type of mv concepts and I believe one of her favorite tv series ever was uk skins. The different pov versions mvs was something I have missed in recent years and it’s nice to see it back and it’s very bold move to do that with debut at that but I think it will easier to learn the members names through it so it’s smart I guess 3- I do still think these girls at least the one born 2008 is too young to debut already. I have been feeling super tired of these young kids debuting and worried about them debuting this young. Before anyone comes at me saying well you stanned shinee and fx and taemin was 14 & krystal was almost 16 when she debuted same age as these girls I just want to say that taemin and krystal wished they never debuted super young either and just because other idols in the past debuted young it doesn’t mean that should keep happening and not just this group but almost all new groups now has a lot of young teens I can’t help but feel worried for them 4- mhj is super creative and I like her work so excited to see what she will go with this. My only concern when it comes to mhj is she likes the skinny image body line and these girls look so skinny already so I hope they are healthy at least and that mhj doesn’t try to make them maintain the skinny image like she did with shinee and fx 5- yeah you got it correctly about why she left sm. Her main groups were fx and shinee especially fx and while she did some projects for other groups in sm she started getting tired and burned out. However sm kept wanting her to do stuff for other groups as well and they wanted her to handle nct; she was already super tired and asked for her own sublabel and her own project but sm refused. At that point shinee members were about to enlist and fx members were leaving sm so she ended up leaving sm as well Thanks for the reaction

On NewJeans' official website they say that this album, and NewJeans' concept in general, depicts teenage love and "the kind of energy reserved only for teenage youth," which sort of explains their young ages and the social media, genz concept in their music videos. I actually like that it's such a different approach and I trust Min Heejin, her style of promotions certainly has everyone talking, apparently they're really trending on pann. I love the sound of both of these songs, it reminds me of late 90s RnB. Their styling and choreo reminds me of 1st gen kpop ggs like SES and FinKL, especially those really big wide dance moves that are quite simple and using your whole body. I like the lighting in Attention especially in the outdoor scenes and also in the car, and as someone who was a preteen girl around the millennium all of the aesthetic choices and atmosphere are intensely nostalgic even despite the modern tech being used. The Hype Boy mv I definitely feel too old for haha, I'm hoping they'll release a performance version for that one too. I do love the animation, it reminds me of Luna's Free Somebody mv. As for the social media presence in the mvs, I think that might be an age thing, it's so symbiotic to the gen z experience I'm not sure they even notice it as a theme, it's just reality for them so it doesn't stand out

As an fx fan, specifically 4walls, this is made for me. I totally get what you mean of it being like that hbo show by which I think you mean euphoria, although rather than euphoria it reminds me of some other high teen movies and series like 'The summer I turned pretty' very genz relevant as someone who loves reading YA novels and series I enjoyed the MVs. Even the interactions looks very out of a high/middle school love story. Believe it or not there are kids 14 to 18 that looks and acts like that and I am 04 liner myself but still feel old seeing that stuff. It is what it is. I understand how you had difficulty with digesting the concept but I feel like it had been done in 2nd gen too like SNSD 'Gee' or Shinee 'View' with the weird love lines lol. I feel like every generation probably has an example of that but maybe cause most of it reference modern ways it feels out of place for you. For the storyline, the review that I read did say that the songs are gonna be following a storyline guessing Hurt is the next song it might be about heartbreak. It is not unusual having 14 year olds in kpop but the fact that 08 liners are now what we consider to be 14yrs old is what's bugging ALOT of ppl. Seriously I feel like 2000s kids grew up to early lol.

Also I do not mean that ALL teenagers act like this AT ALL. Just some loud crowd we have seen around us. I do get it feeling plastic but alot of the times most media related to our generations do look like that like TikTok in itself. I do think that their are some dark undertones to the content too like most of the partners did something to make our girls question their interest in them some were even plain assholes which makes me think it is going yo a revelation of how this generalised look on first love/bf that our genz tends to have is unrealistic. Since the next song is hurt, I believe it's gotta be something like that.

It is definitely supposed to be unnerving - that's Min Heejin's whole thing. If you've ever seen the f(x) Pink Tape Art Film, which was inspired by the movie The Virgin Suicides, this would be like the Gen Z version of that. She seems to be going for the duality of how fun it is to be a teenager but also how dark it can be sometimes.
@RudeMekanicals2 жыл бұрын
The visual aesthetics of the whole thing screams to me Kidz, that 90's documentary style movie which celebrated underground youth culture but also showed its dark underbelly. So yeah, it does make anyone who's not that exact same age feel old, but it's also universal in its depection of personaal experiences. In the end though, the music is amazing, the members bring it, the rollout is so iriginal, I think we have yet another ROTY contender on our hands...

I don't know why people have a thing about AGE in entertainment, including Kpop. In sports, kids are recruited when they are 10 years old in junior olympic training clubs. Kpop artists are also sometimes recruited around this age. Some in entertainment anywhere, including the U.S., are training and entertaining at 6 or 7 years old. Why do people pull out KPOP as something unique in this? As far as exploitation, that occurs everywhere there are young people. If they have talent and they want to do it, they should be able to do it. What's important to me is how they are cared for.

I feel like 30 isn’t that old 😭 Maybe you just feel old compared to these girls/this youthful concept? I’m 20 and a girl, so maybe this resonates more with me, but I didn’t catch anything darker or “Black Mirror” about the Hype Boy MVs. The only thing that had to do with technology was the fact that it followed the girls talking about their crushes w/ little codenames in the group chat. Just texting, not plugging themselves into the Matrix or anything. It fits well into their kind of y2k meets the present aesthetic that’s popular these days and the cell phone set is very reminiscent of y2k technofuturism/cyber aesthetics and vaporwave like you mentioned in the video. It’s interesting that the presence of the cell phone took you out of it so much, since most 30 year olds are familiar with texting. But it solidifies NewJeans’ target audience is their peer, which is kind of a relief since the girls are so young! I would make me at least feel a lot better if the majority of their fans were teen girls.

And you know, we can feel however we want, so if you don’t like the mv or concept, of course you can express it. It’s your channel after all…but I just can’t stand you easily judging them by your perspective and keep saying you “hate” this concept without a slight imagination of how much effort the producer and the girls may have been made for this. I’m sorry but it really sounds rude for me…maybe it’s me that should stay away from your content. Sorry.

I'm here to literally critique the things I watch. It'd be pretty boring and disingenuous if I said I loved everything about a release. The plastic, High School Musical, GenZ feel of the MV didn't vibe with someone who is 30. That's okay! The songs are solid

I love both songs, I liked the mvs and I like the aesthetics for everything so far Though I am a bit conflicted just how I’m conflicted with pretty much all new groups debuting lately due to the young age. It’s true that idols has been debuting at a young age since 1st gen for example BoA debuted when she was 13 years old, but even in groups during 2nd & 3rd gen the numbers of idols who debuted young weren’t like how it is now; nowadays there are too many young kids and I am pretty sure because there are too many group and groups last less than before so by debuting them younger and younger companies are able to get work out of them for longer while they can before the possibility of disband in future Sorry, went to other topic but back to this I do like the debut so far and I think it’s age appropriate for these girls. Older groups used to have different versions of mv and sometimes related to concepts like how it’s done here but it was never for debut and I do think this is both bold and smart move MHJ is amazing and one of the most creative people in the industry and can’t wait to see what she has to bring with this group. She is very artistic and experimental. Though I want to kinda add to info I have seen in comments, her main group in sm was f(x) and was 100% in charge of everything related to them; in shinee case while they were also her group; the members got a bit of creative freedom since 2013 and got it more in 2015 and a lot of their stuff were mix between her and what they wanted for themselves as well even for their solos they were heavily involved with their solos than she was; she still amazing creative director and extremely talented person. Forgot to say she was also heavily involved with rv for a while too; those three groups are who she worked with the most so I guess it will give you example on what she does like to do; her favorite idols were f(x) krystal & shinee taemin- other idols she liked a lot were seulgi (rv) and kai (exo) though krystal and taemin were almost like her own children and she called them her muse

This group kinda reminds me of Shinee when they first debuted with Replay. IDK how to explain it, but Hype Boy and Attention feels really western to this era of KPOP, just like Replay was back then.

I think you're just reading too much in the concept? hahaha cause in my opinion their concept just revolves around coming of age and being a teenager... so I think it's just you being old hahahah but maybe this comment will age badly..... cause based on what min heejin produced previously she kinda operates on vibes? and more of the feeling and less of the hardcore story lore theory crafting stuff... but maybe it's just me

First, I'd like to just say that kpop has honestly been making me feel old lately, and I'm only 22, so I feel you. The look/vibe/styling of these videos honestly gave me disney/disney adjacent musical-set-in-highschool-with-people-who-look-older-than highschool. Almost like the mean rich girls you always see in those films who have the expensive, unrealistic parties that none of us were invited to (Edit/disclaimer: obviously not that the girls are mean girls)

@@KpopPrince Honestly it even sounds like a song from a musical too, to me. It feels very nostalgic, almost. And, personally, I totally agree with you on your comments about the concept, the focus on social media, and how it doesn't feel like real life (kinda bothers me that so many people acting offended by your opinions)

In the kpop-sphere, people only want their opinions validated. I pride myself on being honest with this channel while being respectful. If people can't handle that, there are hundreds of other reaction channels out there that'll flip out to every song.

Was waiting for this! This group really did something! 🥰 Edit: i go back and forth with thinking on the young idols debuting. I think like you said we arent gonna escape it, but i mean i kinda compare it to child actors in my head in a way? I know some of them end up a lil messed up as they get older but i feel like thinking this way makes it a little less icky in my mind if that makes sense? I mean (showing my age here 😭) say like when Hanson debuted the youngest was 11 and they were like globally famous. I dont know if any of that makes sense? Not justifying it but makes me a tiny bit less uncomfy? Its def something very nuanced. Ive heard someone else say “your not to young to start following your dreams” but like i said i flip flop on the issue 😅 Edit edit (lmfao) i heard attention was shot in barcelona Also GET OFF MY LAWN GEN-Z 😆🤣

Ok I’m going to tell this in spanish bc yeah.

Yeah, definitely a turn-of-the-millenium, Y2K throwback with this very American R'n'B/Hip Hop production. It's like something I'd hear playing in the background of a scene in Romeo Must Die and other movies around that time. I would be lying if I said I wasn't uncomfortable watching this, mostly for the fact that they're going to be living the Korean idol lifestyle from as young as 14, the concepts they might be made to do and the type of fans they will garner in the near future. I don't even think they're allowed to enter that gig at the intro legally without an accompanying adult. Hoping they won't crash and burn mentally further down the line because what they've done for their music here is actually pretty good. Will definitely give it another listen without the music video as a distraction. Location suggests they're in Spain judging from the various bits of architecture you see, especially that courtyard at 8:24. We see "Girona" on the sign at 9:16 which is also in northeastern Spain. So assuming they shot that scene of the freeway heading northbound around the time they filmed for the rest of the music video, I'm guessing they were in and around Barcelona. The stadium shots could just be in Korea based on the dancers.
