These two songs made me a fan of NewJeans. When ditto dropped back in December, I couldn’t stop listening to it! Such a cool concept and amazing song!

It doesn't matter too much, but watching OMG and Ditto out of order removes a bit of impact and also would have possibly changed your reaction to OMG if you watched Ditto first. And I think your suggestion that the OMG mv/concept could be controversial is a bit unusual (I just mean that I've seen nothing but positive reactions to the MV and how creative it is, so yeh just struck me as odd when you mentioned that). Ditto and OMG go hand-in-hand with the idol/fan relationships, Ditto being the Fan perspective and OMG the idol perspective. The girl with the camera in Ditto (Ban Heesoo) is the stand-in for Fans (her name is pronounced like 'bunnies' which is the fandom name in english) and she has her own KZbin channel with some extra lore as well. This whole project was very creative and something Kpop really needed.

I think halfway through watching OMG I realized I was supposed to do Ditto first. I'm actually happy I did it in this order because Ditto is a tough one to follow up.

@@KpopPrince lol yeh like I said dont think it mattered too much... But yeh I agree Ditto + MV is better than OMG and I love OMG. It's been funny watching the charts since Ditto came out. It just recently broke BTS all-time record for most PAK... All while blocking their own songs, OMG and Hype Boy from doing the same lol.

@@neon4485 which reddit?... There is a difference between criticism and controversy btw. And I haven't seen any criticism from anyone in relation to the MV being controversial and I've read a lot of stuff from various reddits and comments sections. As someone who likes OMG so much more (both the MV and the song), it's interesting to hear the point of view of someone who prefers Ditto.

I think the lyrics for OMG could be argued to tie into the overall concept, if you think of "him" as being the fans and the perspective as being similar to the iPhone story, where their existence is basically "for you". I feel like they can be read as a parody of this "fan is god" mentality that many idols are expected to fall into. This song is about you, think about you 24, people keep asking me who is he + he's the one that's living in my system baby (an intangible presence), etc.

You are correct in that the most common interpretation of ditto is about par asocial relationships between fan and artist however another interpretation that i personally find a bit more fun is Heeseo (the girl with the cast) was friends with the girls but they were in a car accident (possibly involving a deer) and the others died while Heeseo only broke her arm and she was essentially struggling with the survivors guilt and not being able to move on eventually coming to terms and finding peace, being able to look back and smile on the memories they made together. Idk I'm just one for the dramatics i guess. All in all i was blown away with the story telling and creativity behind these 2 videos and i cant wait to see how they expand on it in the future.

I loved both songs, but ditto is addictive and so dreamy. I do have couple of issues with omg mv like how a certain part of the mv was very intentional to twist the narrative that criticism equals hate toward the girls when most criticism they faced was directed toward their company and cookie lyrics and wasn’t toward the girls themselves and I think this will only make their fandom extra sensitive and just will make the fandom kinda toxic in long run; more so since their fandom is younger in age as well and little things like that can affect the fandom perspective again my criticism towards the Omg mv for whoever reads this is directed toward the company and creative direction not the girls

I mentioned in Twitter that if you need a Loona fix now that all that shit is happening... Get into New Jeans. They have a theme, if not a lore that Orbits will like. Again, as you noticed, things may be confusing if you watch videos out of order, but you can still appreciate the beautiful songs, like Loona MVs and songs. Yes, they're not identically the same, but as I am not getting any more Loona...this will do. And I like how they look like they're having fun doing what they're doing. Without naming names, some more popular groups look like they're doing their jobs. These girls look like they're doing what they love. And it may or may not last, but I'm enjoying their attitudes now, before the internet, the fandom, and the industry ruins their passion.

Seeing some pretty ‘yikes’ comments here. Loved your reaction! Not sure how people forget art is subjective and that there’s no ‘right’ way to consume it. I had to watch both of these MVs multiple times before fully understanding what the director was going for - yet we for some reason expect reactors to catch every detail and have a dissertation prepared in their first watch. Was amazed at how quickly you latched onto the parasocial theme with Ditto. The continued exploration of that in OMG and how it impacts idols and makes them lose themselves (Minji thinks she’s a doctor, Hanni an iPhone, Danielle thinks she’s just NewJeans, Haerin thinks she’s a cat, and Hyein a princess) hit for me. Regardless, two banger songs and two super rewatchable MVs. More cinematic stuff like this in Kpop PLEASE! Much love, sir!

what makes NewJeans unique is they don't take themselves seriously like ALL other GG's in kpop do. All other GG's want to portray themselves as perfect badass dolls but NewJeans don't care to act like goofballs even in their title track mv's which is a breath of fresh air.

I feel much the same way about the m/v for OMG.. The tone and lyrics of the song are too immature for the mental health institution concept. Playlisted the performance video instead. The song is fantastic and the choreo is really great though. I think a more serious song would have fit the concept better, but it's definitely an interesting take on the whole idea of idols & fans so I'll give them that. For Ditto... I also missed the twist when I reacted to it (on my other channel)... I did react to both Ditto & OMG on one hour of sleep though, so that might have had something to do with it. LOL. I thought the young lady was filming B-Roll at the end of the m/v, not that the girl was actually video taping nothing and the group was just her imagination. I like Ditto more too, by just a smidge. The song is just amazing and so is the choreo. I am also a big fan of the synth. "I got nothing to looooooose" is just... everything.

Hi, subscribed to your K-Pop channel not long ago because of your Babymonster reactions :) I don't get how somebody can miss the "twist" in Ditto. Sure everybody misses some of details and references (love Hanni's Steve Jobs Cosplay at the beginning of OMG btw.), , but the big twist? Reminds me when I had to explain to somebody what the movie Sixth Sense was about. So you can even miss THAT (in)famous twist that made the director into a star. Everything seems to be possible :D Although 1 hour sleep might also explain it. Maybe its also in parts because I tend to focus a lot on the storytelling in the mv (since I'm coming more from a video than a music background). :)

@@Guthwulf11 Well, to be fair to myself, it's not just the 1 hour of sleep... it's also the pile of neurological medications that dumb me down. lol Combine the two things and I become super extra oblivious. It's a fun time. On a normal day I usually have to watch a new mv at least 3 times before I can start figuring out the story... and I would have with OMG & Ditto if there wasn't sooooo many other videos they put out for the song.... In the end, I've resolved to stop reacting to videos when I've had less than my usual 4 hours of sleep a night. lol Appreciate the sub! Thanks so much! Look forward to me being oblivious again in the future. :P

Did you really totally miss the big "twist" of Ditto? I'm baffled... :D That's a first. Where you distracted by something else when you watched these MVs? It's really hard to miss the big reveal in Side A and of course all the scenes from Side B that continue the story and contextualize that reveal. Does that happen to you more often? How about movies like Sixth Sense? ;) I loved the "reveal" in Side A, where you discover, the 5 girls she is filming "are not there" (Outro Side A) and she filmed "nothing" in all the scenes from the MV before. My initial theory was: They were real in the past at some point as a group of friends and she really filmed them, when they practiced. But "something" (car accident... in the winter... with a deer) happens. She survives as the only one with her arm injured. She can't let go of her old friends and those happy times... holding on to the camera, still "pretending" to "film" even though they're not there anymore, becoming even more a outsider at school because of it. So its about loss, loneliness, grief and survivors guilt. The "boy" helps her to work through her loss and let go (throwing the camera from the roof, the "good bye" in the rain before the entrance, the deer "leaving" in the hallway as examples). In the present as an adult (intro and outro) she comes back to her old room and watches her old VHS revisiting her memories and youth. Of course when she looks at the door at the end, its a time jump to the past (we see her with the camera coming first into the room before the 5 girls and then we cut to the perspective of the old tape). Of course that's just one interpretation, but it seems to be one of the most popular ones. Others include her just imagining the 5 girls (because of loneliness) or a metaphor for the parasocial relationship between fans and idols (which I don't see, but seems to be somewhat intended by the director). As for OMG: Not sure where you get the sense or if I understand, why you think OMG might be controversial? Ditto and OMG seem to be loved universally by everybody as far as I'm aware. EDIT and PS.: Of course no offense intended. Just was surprised that you seemed to miss it so completely.
@KpopPrince Жыл бұрын
To be fair, I get the hinted at story, but none of it is very interesting compared to the actual real life implications. Their depiction of parasocial relationships in the kpop industry is far more compelling than Sixth Sensing to me personally.

@@dayoungjeong9181 No, you're not providing context, you're just behaving toxic. If a reactor doesn't like a particular song, decides not to react to a group because of controversies / their age or prefers other groups over your own favorites, doesn't mean they are "bad", "lying" or "faking" anything. It might be just a different opinion and you should learn to respect those. Putting other groups down just to praise "your" favorite is toxic as well btw. and one of the reasons K-Pop fandoms have such a reputation.
@Guthwulf11 Жыл бұрын
@@KpopPrince It's a bit more than just "hinted" in Ditto, its the whole focus and point of the storytelling. ;) If their "depiction of parasocial relationships in the kpop industry is far more compelling" to you, than I'm wondering, why you didn't like OMG, since that MV has the stronger and more obvious connections to those themes. Also lots of fun easter eggs and references in both videos, that I was surprised you didn't find compelling enough to react to, mention or analyze. But hey... tastes and interests are different.
