Here I am on January 3, 2023 at 42 years old and I'm still listening to NKOTB. My parents kept their favorite genres/music in general alive by playing it for me and my brother as we grew up and I hope to do the same with my kids. I hope to keep alive the different styles of music from the 80s and 90s so my kids will hopefully have the same eclectic tastes that I do.

I met NKOTB twice and I froze. I was 13 back then. My friends dad was sheriff and he got me and my friends backstage in their dressing room to meet them. I stood absolutely star struck. Even though I never spoke a word they were the best. Donnie put his arm around me and asked if I was okay. I just mumbled “uh huh” omg how embarrassing. I did it both times. They were so sweet!! ❤

It took 30 years before i could revisit NKOTB. I did the past few days. As a boy, it wasn't well regarded to be into a boy band and i got made fun of (you were expected to listen to like...hair metal or whatever...). To be fair i did pretty quickly move away from pop music and never really got back to it. But i think the fact that i was also ridiculed for listening to NKOTB is also why there was a sort of mental hurdle to me revisiting this period of my late childhood (i turned 12 in 1990). But thinking of better days....nostalgia. It was time for me to revisit. It hurts in a way. To think how innocent i was then, how everything seemed possible, how the future seemed to hold promise. Yeah... so much for that. Anyway. It's a good time warp at least, to simpler, happier times.
