This happened to me this year, about a month ago, and my entire yard of fresh new grass was covered. I had no idea what it was so I ignored it for a couple of days. Two days later i woke up to my full yard of fresh two week old Rye Grass dead......Literally all 2500SqFt of it, gone. I was totally defeated at that point. Id spent two months and a ton of money getting this complete renovation complete. After applying some fungicide, and reseeding again, my yard looks great now. After about a year of watching your videos i went for it to only have this happen. But hey, lessons learned! thanks for posting yet another very informative video! keep them coming!

I got nailed with PB last week in a few small spots. Thank goodness I walk my yard often. I gently raked pulled all the grass clippings out. Put some holes in and around the areas with my lawn probe. Let it air out a couple days. Then I back filled the holes with sand, I'm good. I'm not going to lie. I was freaking out. Thought my newly seeded lawn was going to have big brown patches in it every where. Thanks for the tip Ryan. No more irrigation after 4pm with temps that extreme. Thanks for sharing.

This is a timely video. Just dealt with this over the weekend in my new stand of KBG/PRG where my mower pushed the grass down, and the ground won’t dry out due to it being a shaded area. I used some azoxy 2SC and that cleared it up, and I only seem to have lost grass in a couple spots. Fingers crossed!!

Doing my KBG reno, folks on TLF told me to water for 2min 6x a day (irrigation system). Being August, I could get away with watering until 7pm, then gradually going down to 4-5pm. From day 30-45 I’m waiting for about 10min per day in late morning. Once day 45 hits, water every 2-3 days per ET value.

Ever since Pythium killed 2,000 square feet of my lawn in 2 days in 2020 I have done a preventative fungicide program on my lawn applying fungicide every 25 days from spring green-up until mid fall and never had Pythium since. Even though I have full fungus protection I still do my best to avoid watering in the evening even if it's cool at night.
@edwardcuff46122 жыл бұрын
What does that preventative program look like?
@TopTierLawnCareServices2 жыл бұрын
@@edwardcuff4612 Around mid-April I do my first fungicide application with propiconizole and clearlys. I use the same mix 25 days later, and depending on conditions and what disease thrives in those conditions I use different fungicides for best control of those diseases. The 4 fungicides I mostly use are propiconizole, Azoxystrobin, clearlys 3336f and mefenaxam. Mefenaxam and Azoxystrobin will prevent pythium.

Azoxystrobin can also take care of Pythium but it can be expensive as well. The active ingredient in Scotts Disease Ex is Azoxystrobin, which is much cheaper than the liquid fungicide, but only contains 0.31% of Azoxystrobin compare to the liquid fungicide of 22.9%.

Anyone have some advice to help me with new grass "laying down" or becoming matted? I planted some of Ryan's Elite Tall Fescue about four weeks ago and followed all of the renovation tips.. It has filled in great, but I'm having issues when trying to mow both with a manual reel and my rotary mower of all the grass getting pushed down. There are some areas where the grass is probably 4-5" but I can't cut it because it's matted down. Will this resolve itself as the grass gets more mature and the blades become stronger/wider? Or, is there something I should be doing to intervene so I don't lose much of the grass I just spent a lot of time on? Any insights welcomed!
@ryanknorrlawncare2 жыл бұрын
I'd probably try a leaf blower or a very light raking and then mow it a little shorter while it's young. It will strength up as it matures
