I do think they both loved each other but the dynamic wasn't healthy. Not very well suited. They are both much better off with the people they married afterwards and got families with.

If i had to guess, now knowing more about narcissists, i would say Nick is a narcissist. They blame their partner for everything. Get mad easily over little things, trying to degrade their partner, but they will give you nice things do nice things, and if you show gratitude and say how wonderful they were for doing those things for you, they love that because its about them. Attention has to be on them. And since jessicas career was taking off more then his, he didn't like that. So the marriage didn't work. She overshadowed him. The time a girl came up to them in a restaurant and asked jessica for an autograph, but not nick, you could see on his face he hated that, probably was thinking how about me. Even though he said guess she doesn't like 98 degrees. I know that bugged him. Anyway that was 20 years ago. Jessica was so cute back then.
