Isn't it strange how so many of us watched this when we were younger and thought Nick was so nice, and now we can see he was jerk. I actually feel bad for Jessica. He doesn't treat her with much respect. He treats her like a child or sex object. It's messed up.

I think in this video the girls were emotional and immature- who gets mad because someone answers a hypothetical question in the way that they don't like? I wouldn't even get mad if someone answered a real question in the way I don't like! People are entitled to have their own opinion- even when you don't like it. Jessica was literally getting mad because Nick said he wouldn't want to meet a girl and fall in love if he knew she would die in 6 months. First off, it wasn't about Jessica. Secondly, even if it was, I think what he's saying makes perfect sense because you don't know what you're missing if you don't know someone- or barely know someone. Even my own young daughter grasps that concept and has said, when we have talked in hypotheticals, "well, I really love so and so but if I never met them, I wouldn't miss them so xyz..." Both of those girls were moody, overly sensitive and highly immature and sort of whiny. I feel bad for Nick. Also, there's nothing wrong with hitting your wife's behind... they are married. These girls are classic examples of why men are scared to be honest with women- as a demographic they take everything so personal, and the average woman lacks objectivity. I have had to deal with men who have had exes like this and it takes months to train them to realize that they are entitled to feel however they feel- no need to lie- even if it's your real thoughts about another woman. It's not that serious.

I watched this as a teenager. Watching it now as a mature adult I can see how controlling and selfish nick was. It was always more about how good he was and how used to things he was and making Jess feel neglected. He always tried to be right rather than looking to understand her. He was her enemy more than her husband.

“Newlyweds” was the reason why I waited to get married my in my 30’s. I had overprotective, helicopter parents and was sheltered. Also, now that I’m watching it as I’m older, it seems like he craved that power dynamic, where he was the smarter/older spouse who dominated in all areas. That’s probably why he talked down to her at times and was jealous when she became successful.

He got mature by the time he met his second wife and she wasn't as famous as Jess so he wasn't envious of her fame---and so their marriage worked. But Jess got the bad rep for being a princess when really she was very sweet and tolerated a lot! And she had a right to be a princess, she worked hard and earned the right to live a lavish lifestyle and he had no right to take that away from her.

I feel so bad, because watching these episodes as a adult it really made me feel like no matter what jessica did he would always come right back with another sarcastic remark... I tell you he probably thought she was stupid and he tried to be more of a father than her husband. I believed it would have worked out if they went to therapy but Jessica just wanted his attention and would even fly to new york for one day just to be with him. Then it goes I think jealousy got in the way because Jessicas career was taking off and the only thing Nick was doing was performing with her and their show and when the rolling stone came to her with the offer it was supposed to be her and nick and then they just wanted jess so im sure she felt alot of resentment from nick its sad now his new wife wishes she was on jessicas billionaire stance and she has a husband and kids and the family she wanted to build with Nick, but I do think she was smart to not have had kids with him.. This show was honestly, so funny. And I know everyone wants to hate on Nick, but I see it as they were both pretty immature cute kids at the time. Like, I'm not really hearing a whole lot of "thank you's" for the guys setting up and doing literally everything out of Jessica and no "good jobs" either. you live and you learn though. Both of these two are beyond okay and in better partnerships now though.
