Great video. I’m happy your dad said, “It comes down to price for me.” Exactly what manufacturers need to hear. Any full set over $600 is too much. The greed in this sport is infuriating.
@Alan-759 ай бұрын
He's right clubs are way too expensive and the only reason I'm still using the set I started with (Mp30s) which cost me £450 new in 3-pw. I would love a new set of mizuno 243s in 3-pw but I'd be looking at £1800 to buy them nowadays. Manufacturers are way too greedy imo and i can only see them getting more expensive unfortunately.

Look up Takomos I have a set and they play better than mizuno imo

True, I’ve been playing for 20 years and finally got to buy a full set of fitted clubs this year. In the past I’d buy what was cheap and learn to hit them.
@xTRUExiNsANiTYx9 ай бұрын
@@Alan-75MP 30s released in 2003. €450 in 2003 is equivalent to €1100 in today’s money. You still paid a good amount for your irons back in the day. You can get a brand new set of MP 241s for €1500 right now, or JPX923’s for less than that. Maybe slightly more expensive, but it’s not like golf equipment has gone up higher than anything else.

I'm sure glad I somehow landed here. My Dad was the one who got me into the game!! I lost Dad last May and in Sept while playing an event at Arcadia Bluffs I stepped onto the box on Dads favorite hole he always talked about. It's a stunner 171 carry over a deep gorge Lake Michigan looming and a beautiful evening I put Dads initials on the ball with a Sharpie and with roughly 20 guys standing around the green I hit a beautiful 7 iron big high baby draw the ball hit the green and I turned towards the cart to hear everyone erupt it went in!! My one and only ace and I hope i never get another!! I miss that guy and this video brought me pure joy. Enjoy your time my friend I hope you have a bunch!!!! Good stuff

@thomasbrady63 it was pretty special and I get the goosebumps thinking about it. I was sure glad it was witnessed by so many people until I got to the clubhouse and found out you have to buy a drink for everyone who saw it??? Arcadia Bluffs drinks are not cheap and I believe that hole in one cost me a couple hundred bucks but I would have paid 100k as it's my only Ace and it sounds weird but I hope I never get another!!! I want that to remain as special as it was

These guys and gals who are posting here have a great deal to be thankful about their dads or moms that got them started in the great game of golf and mentored them to the point of building good confidence. My mom was a 2 handicapper, and a member in a sweet low profile country club in Southern Idaho. She started me and my 2 sisters in the great game of golf. From my mom, many people got into golf starting from her daughters and fanning out from there.

Your video makes me want to get to a fitting soon as I love the game. I loved the commentary and relationship between you and Dad. You both are clearly analytical and very nice to each other. Such a nice thing to do for dear old Dad. It was fun to see what the various clubs did for his results. I’m 73. I don’t recall how old your Dad is, probably younger than me, but facing many of the same challenges as I. I also have clubs older than your Dad’s so the technology would most likely do me some good. I am coming back to golf after a 25 year layoff (for a variety of reasons) and trying to see if I can still play. Injuries on every round 😢 so far but the rounds have been a couple of years apart so who knows? Certainly some conditioning is in order. Anyway, it was interesting for me because I can relate to your Dad. Keep up the great content.

NNG, I normally absorb ur data and move on with my ADD/ADHD running the show. My ADD is the main reason I love golf. After focusing on a par 3, I get to mash a par 5! Constant change!!! Now to the important stuff. I hope you realize just how important this video is. I am reduced to tears watching you treat your father with love, respect, and transparent honesty. I am not allowed this courtesy with my living father. We used to play golf but he traded us all in for a wife. She has passed and he is lost and refuses to interact so...this video punched me in the gut harder than i expected or could forsee. I would do this for him in a heartbeat. Or at least I would have in a nicer calmer world but not an option at this time. Chrish this banter and comfort you two share. On a gear note, I am finally replacing my NIKE vrs Irons with a set of Takomo irons. I wish i had seen this video first. I believe that V groove iron would help me take a little more grass n soil as I am a clean clipper of the ball. I am going to learn to take a small fwd divot with these new irons. Graphite shaft all day long. I am exactly your father's age and was hitting 5 years ago (when starting golf again) around 75 mph club speed with 7-iron. Now I am around 85 mph. I used to play a lot around 30 years ago, so probably technique has come back but probably some miles are also gains from the Recoil 460 F3 shafts. They are great and much better for my right elbow which has bad arthritis. Would like to change my Srixon 785:s to something newer but dont like the thick topline of the ZX7. Maybe something like Callaway Apex CB would be nice. Your father seems to be such a great guy !👍 Hopefully he is enjoying his new irons! This is the 2nd time I watch this video and it was as nice as watching it first time 😊. Btw hitting indoors from mat is so different. I took some lessons from my pro last year and he said that I should bend my 5, 6 and 7 irons to 1-2 degree weaker because with the 7-iron I only got around 5000 or little more spin and peak was only 27 meters. I did it but outdoor I get so much more height and spin from the grass. Now I hope my 6- and 7-iron would rollout more 🤣. Glad I didnt touch the 5- and 4-irons.

What a great way to see how important and difference a club fitting is. And above all how you helped your father in return. I was also fitted last weekend for the Qi and despite the loft of the Qi HL was better for me , the clubhead weight of the QI was even better so I got the Qi and the golf fitter had changed the loft (I think it is the loft, still learning the golf basics, started golf last march) of the iron towards the same as the HL(didn’t know this was possible with an iron) and now I am hitting 40yards further and straighter with an senior graphite shaft, thicker grip then my present set TM Stealth steel 85 thin grip 😮 (the stealth I bought without fitting, never doing that again) The bad news is that I have to wait two weeks for delivery 😂 and next Sunday have to use the Stealth on my first 18holes 😅

I was in the same boat as your dad. I had some old Palmer Peerless blades. I went to a retail and fitting shop, picked up a new Mizuno iron and was blasting it. Come to find out, today's irons are upright by 2 clubs of loft now. Also, in my day, we were swinging as flat as we could and sweeping the ball off of the grass. Now, the focus is on de-lofting the club and punching it. So, now you are talking about 3 clubs of difference in distance. In my young days, my 7 iron was 160 and now 185-190. It's kinda crazy.....

I loved this fitting with your father. I learned a lot about the fitting process and how it takes a bit of data gathering to see what works. This makes me want to get fitted to find clubs that fit me. You two have a wonderful day.

Your dad is very fortunate to have a son like you. You took up golf, stuck with it and he and others in your family have a golf buddy for life; its priceless! Also how many sons have their dads fitted with a full set of premium irons! Am I correct in assuming you are gifting the irons? For 60 year old 18 index, it seems like graphite would be the ideal ticket. He is not getting any younger and any more tolerant of shock in the hands and wrists.

Not kidding when I say, this is the best fitting video I've seen. I wish I could get fit by you. To be fair, I've never been fitted before and if this is what is like, I would do it in a heartbeat. I can't imagine someone taking this much time to find what's right for each person. Awesome job and look forward to more.

Thank you so much for this video. I'm a bit older than your dad, but in about the same circumstance, handicap, ball speed, trajectory, distance. Going for a fitting in Houston next Sunday, and hope to come out of it with similar results. Well done, and great present for your father.

I have 1 son that golf’s. We only got out 2 times last year.. hopefully much more in 2024.. I bought his 1st set in 2015. Taylor Made HL. He still hits them wells. He really could use a new set of irons but probably not GI. He’s 33 I’m 64. He loves getting newer drivers though. I just bought the new G430’s 55 g Ping shaft and the Mid Align grips. I struggled at 1st with my regular compact backswing. Once I took it back with more wrist break I was getting 1.40- 1.48 smash with 6000 spin. (18 hdcp). After watching this video I wish I would have tried more brands just to be sure. I did go back and try more when I picked them up. Mizuno and maybe Taylor Made. 2023 models. Will go to the simulator but not for 6 weeks. Wrist contusion. Please post an update. Great video.

Nice! Chrome soft or Bridgestone rxs is another 3 or 4 yards carry as well.

Love it! Same age as your father! What a effective swing he has! Hockey allso mentioned! We done same sports with my son! Takomo 101T head gives some extra meters and forgivines for fathers also and its cheaper. Just pick right shaft! All Best!

Dad has a great swing.I’m 78 and hit my irons pretty well through the 7 iron. For some reason once I hit a 6 iron down to a 3 I get wild. Unfortunately, I hate hybrids. I pull hook every one. Is the issue with lower irons mental, ha. I play Cobra Air Lights with senior shaft. Great video, thanks.

Heartwarming video. I know it was supposed to be about golf, but it was about much more than that. Thanks.

Great video I watched it last month just before I went to get fitted for new irons and was ready for sure. I went in with Ping 425's stiff steel shafts 1 degree flat (red Dot) 6 through Gap. Ended up after about one hour getting Tour Edge C753's 5 through gap with a regular graphite shaft bent to the same lie as the Pings. The regular graphite shafts gave me more high ball flight and I felt I could move back to a 5 iron instead of the hybrid I was using. After about 7 rounds I fell strong that the fitting and new irons are going to help lower my handicap by 2 strokes easy. If you can afford it ($125 for me) getting fit is well worth it.
