Good video man. The install info is certainly appreciated. I just ordered the NK300 for my Titan X. Should arrive this Friday. And I certainly miss fishing Caddo Lake. It’s so nice out there... Unfortunately, I moved from NW Louisiana to West Texas in August 2023… New sub’er 👍

Thank you so much and congrats on your new rig, that will be an awesome set up you have. I will tell you this, put a reminder in your phone, the battery they have for the Newports, has a blue tooth deal inside the battery so you can hook it up with your phone to monitor it etc, this bluetooth constantly running will run the battery down to no return, so, make sure you charge it at least once a month, even if you dont use it. It does have a warranty, but the best bet is to not let it run itself down,. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment and welcome to the little family on KZbin, We try to do a little bit of everything and right now its archery seasons, so I will be posting up some archery stuff for a bit, then go back to fishing. thanks again my friend and welcome to Texas as well. There is some good place to fish out west as well, you're gonna love the New Titan, its a great kayak. Keep us posted and have a blessed week. Dale

Great info! Much info I was looking for preparing to purchase the same motor and mount it on my 7 yr old Native Slayer Propel 13.

@@HeartlandMakesAndOutdoors I've mounted my NK300 recently and have taken 3 brief runs at the nearby boat ramp to test the balance, steering, speed, etc. I did relocate the battery in a box to directly behind my seat and that seems to work for best balance. I agree completely about the "improved" mount with the rod, knobs, and cotter pin. It wouldn't take much to lose the cotter pin! One thing I found that might help you if you are having a similar effect. I used the pulleys and swivels as recommended initially, but when lifting the heavy NK300 out of the water it usually swings left or right. One time it got to the point where it remained cocked to the side when lowered and I had no ability to steer at that point. I tried removing the swivel on the top and used a 5/16 bolt and wingnut to bolt the pulley directly to the hole in the top rod. The bolted pulley seems to provide a lever arm of sorts to keep the motor from swinging left or right. Now, when I left the motor (even all the way to the top) it barely moves from the center position. Also, since my Native SP13 does not have significant inner hull access, my steering cables are on top and to the right of my seat.

Hummm, what happens to the battery when its poles are shorted by water??? Does it have the potential to explode with such an out rush of current and internal heat build up??? Is the resistance of the water sufficient to prevent catastrophic failure? PS- replace the cotter pin with a split ring or snap swivel lashed to the mount.

That is an excellent question, I will have to do some research and find out, I am not certain on that question and one I have thought about some as well. I will see what I can find out, thank you for the question. Split ring could potentially work on the left side, since I only take the right one off being right handed. I did initially have motorcycle safety wire on the right hand side pin and it was mounting to the mounting plate I made, I ultimately dint like it because it is so small, I felt like traveling around I would loose it, so I took the wire off and just put the pin back where it was. Snap swivel, may well work if I can find one with a straight shaft and then that would work to lash it to the mounting plate, great idea. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment and I hope you have a blessed week. Dale

@@HeartlandMakesAndOutdoors Appreciate the effort. You can straighten the point of the swivel and trim the excess. I was visualizing a salt water swivel setup with a coated leader.

Hey Dale. Looks like you’re ready to go, nice job on the install. Those Newport motors are pretty awesome but way out of my price range. Just out of curiosity, how many pounds of thrust doe the 300 push. Since my kayak is a Native Slayer Max Peddle Drive I am looking at a trolling motor that will fit in the peddle drive pocket. I have already got the tip up motor mount from Native but with my current mobility issue I will probably wait until winter to figure out and buy whatever Ah battery I will need as well as cutting down the motor shaft and maybe even the control head to make it as unobtrusive as possible. At least with the new motor you can get out on these 100 + degree days and save your energy for casting and not paddling . Of course I made it all the way to the end……I’ve got nothing but time for the next couple of months…😬 Tight lines my friend. God bless. Don

Brother, I am trying like crazy, these lake are huge out here, I am happy with the motor overall on the water, but it does add a lot of weight to the kayak as well, for landing up at the end of the day, its heavy hahaha. Oh man, I get it, you know me, I am goofy, it was out of my budget as well, I have a video that will post in the morning expelling some reasons why I decided to of over budget on the motor. As far as thrust pounds, that is an excellent question, I have no idea and as far as I know, its nothing I have seen on thier website about it, maybe someone will read this and answer, My best guess, the thrust pound is the camera equivalent of megapixels and no-one talks about resolution but the buzz word for marketing is megapixels if that makes sense. I will send Gary a message this evening and see if he can ask the "specialist" if they know how many pounds of thrust if has or equivalent guestiamtion to and see if we can get an answer. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch sire, I still have you in my prayers and I hope you will be healed up in no time. Thank you for your continued support on this little channel and know it is greatly appreciated sir. I love th native watercraft kayaks, I will do my best to buy Angy the the new 12X in another year when they work the kinks out of it, I think it will be one of the best if not the best one on the market when they get it all dialed in. Thanks again brother and I hope you have. a blessed weekend. Prayers your way sir. Dale
