Hi all! It’s been a while between video releases, my life and work has been somewhat chaotic which stopped editing and production for abit, thankfully now, we’re back in the editing room! This video definitely doesn’t cover everything that takes place at the Newport Workshops Open Days, things like the K Class Centenary, the return to service of K183 after its tragic accident, Trugo, the Newport Railway Museum, and everything else! We did film and interview for the above subjects back in 2022, however, It was an editorial decision to not include them in this video because we didn’t want to blow out the video duration to 30mins+. We will look at making seperate standalone videos on these topics in the future! Thanks for watching and your support, subscribe for more!

Mate, you covered absolutely plenty! Its the unfortunate thing about balancing between what's relevant and what's not in contrast to how often you plan to upload. At the same time, it keeps it 'short' and sweet which is fantastic for a broader audience. Will you be attending this year?

Thanks for this high quality coverage and the reminder of the Newport Workshops open day next weekend. I hope to be attending. However at 4:42 Richard Parker, with his focus on Newport Workshops, is getting it wrong about the predecessor workshops used by the Victorian Railways prior to Newport opening fully in 1889. The original VR Workshops were at Williamstown in the Timeball Tower area. This started in 1858 with the assembly and preparation of locomotives and rolling stock imported from the UK. Over the next decades the Williamstown workshops built seven locomotives there, most to VR designs. The PROV has numerous photos of the Workshops, some taken using the Timeball Tower to get an elevated view. The Spotswood Workshops are a much more recent and specialised facility with the earliest mention I can find of it being in Trove for 1924 talking about purchasing the empty land to build the facility and listing it's few functions.
