The 1947 built Junee Railway Roundhouse is the largest continually operating railway roundhouse in the Southern Hemisphere, located at the half-way point on the Main Southern Railway line between Sydney and Melbourne, it continues to play an important role in servicing and maintaining locomotives that pass through the region, as well as preserving the history of the railways' presence in Junee.
In this video we visit Junee, as the local community celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the opening of this historical facility, and looks at the town overall, that has grown around the existence ever since the railway first arrived here in 1878. We look at not only the railway legacy of the town and the roundhouse, but other elements of the community that continue to keep former railway traditions alive!
