Another trick to use on this vehicle when the going gets really tough is to switch automatic power on (next to the gear shift). What this does is to delay the automatic gear change. In other words, the vehicle stays in 1st gear for longer before shifting to 2nd gear. This applies to the remaining gears as well and is especially useful for towing. I find it great for tackling sand dunes.

Why the computer voice ? Still no wiser as to difference between 4H and 4L other than 4L is better for slippery conditions. Why ?

It's not better for traction. It provides more torque to the wheels. Lock provides better traction.

I think that 4H Lock is a center diff lock and I understand what this does. and 4L Lock will be the same for the low range. And N is totally for Neutral so that the car can be towed behind another vehicle (eg house bus). But nobody seems to know what 4H is on the GV. Or whether it is 50/50 front/back.

@@chrissybabe8568 I prefer the previous generation that used 2H, 4H, 4L. I want to know what the 4H does now. Is it full time or active when traction loss occurs. Does it affect the turning circle?
@chrissybabe85685 жыл бұрын
@@AdamAdamHDL It is full time because when you are going slowly and turning you can feel the steering pulling as it tries to to maintain constant speed from both wheels. Not usually felt under normal circumstances. I think the center diff must also be LSD. Not sure what you want re turning circle. It doesn't affect the turning circle at all as far as I can tell - the turning circle is quite good but you can feel the 4WD affect the tighter the circle.

@@chrissybabe8568 I find in tight manures 4wds just don't steer as easily or tight as they do when 2wd is optional.
