25:11 There is something known as split brain syndrome. It happens when the connection between the two hemispheres of your brain are severed. One potential side effect of this condition is called alien hand syndrome which causes one of your hands to seemingly act on its own. Although the hemispheres are split apart, both are still alive. So the non-talking part of your brain is still active and can respond to stimuli. The hand shake in this part of the episode reminded me of this real life syndrome. For more info on this condition, check out the CGP Grey video "You are two". Also, the reintegration machine in this episode reminded me of transcranial magnetic stimulation. This is the idea of using magnets to effect parts of your brain. TMS can be used to treat some mental illnesses.

@TomEmberly6 күн бұрын
While that is totally possible, I do more so lean towards it being some tool they can use to manipulate the innies BUT they have all pretty much read the book already, so something like that would require a reset. Then again, maybe they are gonna be reset and that's the reason Helena went down, to experience love before it's erased.

Yep they are totally sinking their claws into Mark’s family, but also Ricken is now seen by MDR’s innies as some sort of revolutionary figure and Lumon is probably planning to co-opt his name and works to spread a pro-Lumon message. Though Ricken’s book is essentially dribble written by a pretentious, privileged manchild, to the innies who so far had only consumed corporate media and propaganda, his thoughts on the ideals of freedom and the pursuit of happiness are life-changing.

This seemed similar to Dylan's reaction to ODR visiting MDR in Season 1. Similarly, ODR believed MDR wanted to kill them initially because of the 'Macrodata Refinement Calamity' painting vs what painting MDR saw, which was 'The Grim Barbarity of Optics and Design'. The innie Mark would 10000% know what the "who is alive" question is about. He would not be confused

I just noticed at 8:35 that painting kind of looks like it's trying to represent the great lakes.

8:38 Michigander here. That is 1000% a really garbage picture of the Great Lakes. Based on angle, he’s invading from Indiana. Good luck, buddy.

My gf said it prob a flashback to his first day or week

Guys, don’t be afraid of it is a flashback episode. I’m at the point that I trust everything they are serving us and I’m open for the ride.

It won’t be. Listen to critics reviews. They said episode 4 is THE episode of the season. It’s gonna be good.
@asmrpadawan94324 күн бұрын
Part of it will have the innies outside on a field trip. Part of it may be a cobel back story

The town in Severence is the town of Bonavista on the island of Newfoundland. At least partially anyway. Many of the exteriors were shot there.

The pattern that the sand makes during Mark's reintegration is the same pattern on the screen on the bottom left in Gemma's screen that they flashed at the end of season 1. Representing the 5 brainwaves.

Goats are a red herring. The're raised for milk...Mr. Eagen's favorite breakfast - 3 raw eggs in a glass of milk. Lumon's upper management breakfast every day.
@TR-ry1xv6 күн бұрын
I feel that they are trying to perfect the same "reintegration-like process" but between a grown clone and a computer where the brains of Kier and other board members are saved one. That is what mark's team is troubleshooting and where the goats are going when ready to experiment.
@tarynnM7 күн бұрын
The goats are scapegoats, in the original religious sense.

Kier standing on the cliff in the painting overlooking the valley and lakes, is a simplified view of the Great Lakes.

I think the desire to see the bellies was a variation of the rumor told to O&D that MDR had a larval offspring in their bellies, a rumor to keep the departments separate.

Very strange that we have never seen innies eating lunch. Snack machines only and used to only have access to 2 tokens per day. Now unlimited tokens are available.

I just realized the kier painting is him standing over the great lakes
@kekem18644 күн бұрын
The painting that hung over the water fountain at 8:36 shows Kier standing above what looks like the Great Lakes. He’s positioned at the bottom of Lake Michigan, which would be around Chicago or more to the east-maybe near South Bend, Indiana. Could that be where Harmony was headed. That could explain the seagull sounds.

The painting of Keir inviting you to drink his water shows the map of the Great Lakes. That would put Lumon in the midwest?
@coverversionoftheday99416 күн бұрын
The painting of Eagan on the mountain top is obvious overlooking a slightly distorted version of The Great Lakes. This dovetails with Grand Rapids, seagulls, and snowy landscapes. The baby goats remind me of the Eraserhead baby. Helena's bodyguard/driver reminds me of Keyser Söze's driver in Usual Suspects.
