I could also see them maybe playing with a deception, he sees Doom as a part of those futures and maybe he’s fooled by the face bc at that moment the characters didn’t fully understand the multiverse, and as Doomsday goes on Strange realizes he was duped and basically got Tony killed for no reason and has to live with/ rectify that. It might also bring some recontextion to The Ancient One in Endgame saying “Strange was supposed to be the best of us”

I’ like the idea that strange didn’t understand the future he seen because he was not yet sorcerer supreme the ancient one had access to knowledge and I always think the “strange was supposed to be the best of us “ meant he made a mistake giving thanos the stone and letting Tony die

I think they tried to backseat Dr. Strange so people can pay even more attention to the other magic users (Wanda/Doom) when they arrive on screen. BC found out about it & decided to cause a frenzy to save his character from getting sidelined.
