You may have missed in the small print when you activate, that in addition to those categories, there's a "birthday bonus" from Chase offering 5x on tax prep and insurance from March 1-March 31 so it could be good for tax time.

Very similar to Q1 2024. Very interesting choice with Norwegian though. Definitely using this for groceries and Gym

I got my freedom flex with 5x back on gas and groceries in my first year, so with the Q1 category having groceries, I’ll be earning 9x back 👊🏼

@ because the 5x category will stack on top of the 5x you already earn with groceries/gas. You would think it would be 10x but I remember watching someone’s video on KZbin and they explained it to where it would be 9x. Hope this helped!

Kinda lame if you already have a primary grocery card that works everywhere like the AAA Daily Advantage. Don't fo cruises, no gym memberships and nobody really does salon services in my family. Might be good for a hair cut here and there, but won't come anywhere close to touching the $1500 cap. 😕

Because Amex will put you in pop up jail for not putting enough spending on their credit cards so they can collect the merchant fees with every swipe you make.

Walmart is losing out (for groceries), with the Capital One Walmart 5% card shutting down, at least Chase Q4 PayPal was an option for Walmart, but for Q1 neither Chase nor Discover are on Walmart and Walmart has yet to announce any credit card partners.

If you like Walmart you could always go to a grocery store and buy a gift certificate for Walmart at 5% then go and use it. 🤷‍♂️

@@chrisparker7860 That's too much work, especially if I'm already in another grocery store. Walmart+ complimentary with Amex Platinum mixed with Capital One 5% was a champion setup for grocery pickup or grocery delivery. Now, it just eliminates Walmart as a primary grocery until they can get back to a grocery store discount level (since they're not coded as grocery unless you're physically inside Walmart Neighborhood location).

Don't forget the Citi Dividend Card 5% category for Q1 2025 is Amazon and Streaming Services. Don't forget the Citi Custom Cash Card allows you to choose your 5% category. Don't forget the U.S. Bank Cash Plus Card allows you to choose your 5% category. Don't forget the Bank of America Customized Cash Card allows you to choose your 3% category.
