As of August 2020: Craig Peyer, one of San Diego’s most notorious killers, may be released from prison early because of COVID-19 concerns. Peyer killed Cara Knott on December 27, 1986. The 20-year-old San Diego State student was strangled and then thrown from a bridge off Interstate 15 near Poway.
The murder happened while Peyer, a CHP officer, was on duty. He continued to work the rest of his shift as if nothing had happened.
This News 8 archive footage covers Peyer's trials - one that ended in a hung jury and the second which ended in Peyer's conviction.

Who cares if he is at risk of contracting covid!? He should not be allowed to live! I remember that case well. The murder also killed her heartbroken father. Mr P is a monster.

Exactly; i don't get it! Letting this individual out, is an insult to that poor girl's family and her friends. It is plain outrageous! 😡👎

There was one bit of evidence that was collected from the victim. It was a tiny gold colored fiber, that at the time, could not be identified. Years later it was reexamined, and found to be from a patch on a CHP uniform, a single tiny thread that proved he did it. It was a type and color only used by the CHP. kzbin.info/www/bejne/equZfJWCmc2kos0 Cara's father got permission to build a memorial park for his daughter in the spot where she died. I have visited it myself a few years ago. As her father was working on it, he collapsed and died of a heart attack. Very sad. My older brother was a CHP at the time, and told me about this case many years ago.

Yep. I was a 37 year old native San Diegan, living Downtown at the time, taking graduate classes at SDSU. It was a MASS PTSD moment that affected all of San Diego! We followed every update, thankfully watching the kindly OfC. Peyer giving Rory and all of us advice on how to keep ourselves safe... Talk about betrayal!!

I don't feel like justice was served cause the cop is living in a motel prison he should have been put in real prison ! Death is really what he should have got the bastard took Cara's life. So his life should have been taken , if the murderers would start getting death sentences a lot less innocent people would be killed !

I totally agree. It’s unbelievable that he didn’t get life without parole. Biggest POS for taking her life because he wanted to throw his authority around and she wasn’t having it. She had so much life ahead of her and certainly didn’t deserve to be murdered, never mind by a Creepy Monster CHP Officer. I believe he was building up to rape these women and begin killing and would have continued if he wasn’t caught

To me, the most incriminating piece of evidence, was his attempt to erase and correct a traffic stop right at the time of Cara's disappearance. That screamed, "I'm the MURDERER!" as loudly as anything could.

if a family member does a horrific crime .... why the hell would you continue to back them? ... when you would all stab each other in the back over some inheritence money ..... if it were my family member , i would be ashamed that some scum bag is related to me

Yes, they had at least a 10% chance of being listened to. Do you realize the number of women who come forward and end up dead anyway? It's a business, they help some, make themselves look relevant, but if they actually worked to PREVENT crime, there's a whole lot of paychecks that will never be written. From the entire justice system, prisons all the way down to morgues and funeral homes. That's a lot of workers from high-paid administration right down to the "grunt" workers who would otherwise have their careers/jobs become irrelevant. Hell, they release prisoners (many they know damn well will re-offend) when they hit dry spells. The whole of it encompasses so many people, it's of course such a BIG business, corruption is assured and can never be extinguished. Humans are better at being bad than good IMO. I count the incarcerated as well as the ones who should be but are not, lol. It's especially absurd that there are mentally ill incarcerating mentally ill and "quasi 'caring' " secretly in various abusive ways because they can (the vulnerable are easy targets in mental hospitals and prisons). I see no difference between many in prison or mental health facilities and those outside them who are in no way perfect and outstanding citizens, they're just lucky and better at keeping their evil secret. The worse evil hides behind labels that denote a sense of morality, integrity and respect. Criminals/mentally ill hypocrites operating under those labels. Clergy, Police, Lawyers, Entertainment Personalities, Doctors, Nurses ... the list goes on and on of false identity tags USED by the most cunning evil, the hidden evil that gets to live a full life while low-functioning/low socioeconomic individuals' evil takes most of the heat. They can and will always find scapegoats. The Salem Witch Trials is a great example of how these types work their "magic". Humans are indeed complicated, but they're mostly absurd in how seriously they take themselves and how overblown their egos are, how hypocritical and narcissistic they are, laden with Dunning-Kruger Syndrome and the fact that they can justify all their psychosis, immorality and criminal behavior while judging it in others as unacceptable and enacting punishment upon the "other". Yeah, there's a whole hell of a lot of evil out there that will NEVER be punished. Such is the human world. It hasn't changed since it became semi-conscious. So here in the 21st century, it's still semi-conscious. :D

They did report his behavior before the murder but they were ignored. His Supervisor commended him for his safety efforts and pulling women off the dangerous hwy. Stupid! He should’ve been fired!! I hope he suffers with his decision and his inability to hold up to his responsibilities and investigate these women’s claims of harassment.

This just happened again in London. The police officer was given life. Women should always call someone when they are being pulled over. Of course back in 1988 we didn’t carry cell phones. God bless the memory of Cara and may her family find a measure of peace 🕯🕊🙏🏽🌹

She wasn't "duped" or "conned", she was COMMANDED by....law enforcement. And what do POLICE insist you are do? Obey, Obey, Obey the authorities (them). OR, they will SHOOT. Here is what you do? When their flashing lights come on, YOU call the police on your cell and report the stop--THEN pull over and TELL the officer you made the call. If it is legit--no problem, if it is NOT legit, you now have let them know you called it in. Maybe a different outcome, you got to figure, that the bad cop--rare but exists--will have to think twice before doing you harm. Officers, is that bad advice?

She stopped for gas at the Chevron station, he saw her there and made her take the 395 exit to nowhere. They fought, he lost his temper and hit her with his flashlight knocking her out. Realizing he'd get prison for this (since she'd certainly report it) he threw her off the 395 bridge.
