I believe it was the greatest show of their career because of what they knew it meant: Conquering American fans. Also, on February 11, 1996 I organized an anniversary concert in Washington, DC with a local tribute band (The Invasion) AND Carroll James, the same WWDC disc jockey who introduced them at the Washington Coliseum. That was cool.

That’s cool. Aside from the remixing, I’ve already got everything they’re gonna be showing. I was thinking that since you can pretty much do anything with AI, it would be an interesting experiment for someone to try to recreate their 1966 TOTP performance using the only known footage in existence. Now THAT is something i would love to see

Hey Joe any documentary that was done by the Maysles brothers or Martin Scorsese is well worth it. With this new Beatles 64 coming out which as you said is unreleased footage from The Beatles First U.S. Visit I can’t wait to see it. The only thing the Maysles bros. was supposed to have filmed but wasn’t allowed due to musicians union, was backstage at the Ed Sullivan Feb.9. Live broadcast. That would have been outstanding! I’m still looking forward to this new Beatles doc- especially that it’s from 1964. Thanks for the news.

I’m thinking it “features unreleased footage from the Maysles brothers”, but hopefully also A LOT more. Because if it’s just an extended version of “The Beatles First US Visit”, I would be shocked.

@@jorgeb555 it's the principle of the thing. It used to be so simple to go down to the store and pick up a video, take it home and watch it. No further commitment. Now everybody wants you to subscribe to one thing or another. I have so many subscriptions draining my back account every month, i can't keep track of them all. At some point I have to say "NO".

I’m sure I’ll learn something about the Beatles that I don’t already know. ( that was sarcasm in case you didn’t catch that ) Beatles Anthology (1995) was in my opinion the best Beatles documentary ever made. It’s odd I never see it re broadcast on any network or even cable or streaming and I would love it to be re issued in 4k

The Washington Demix going to be ridiculous. They are taking mono sources with unbelievable crowd noise and trying to make stereo/surround sound out of it. It’s not going to sound good but if it does I’ll eat my words and accept the new technology. Very excited otherwise

I imagine they will use it to balance everything better. I highly doubt there will be much wide stereo panning. It could be used very effectively for those recordings. Including bringing out the fullness of the sound for higher end systems. The ed sullivan recordings on the other hand may have more.

⁠@@watmunI hope it’s for the sake of balancing and not making it sound like it was recorded using Pro Tools. Giles Martin has released some very suspect material in regard to remixing The Beatles even with more useable tracks at his disposal so this can either work really well for him or he will be exposed again. I hope for the best I really do

@BuffaloBeatle the only duds I can think of are 'she loves you', which was a poor source, and I am the walrus which was a bad creative decision 😂. I think with this type of project, subtltly is the idea. Maybe more extensive if they plan on releasing the audio officially.

While it is my favorite show of theirs of all time, the vocal performances were not - ahem - the best. Minus pitch correction, no technology can fix that. But a better balance and EQ would be very cool to hear. Not to mention a remastering of the original video footage. I look forward to all that!

I will probably get slated for saying this but with all the AI technology that exists now you think there would be a way they could colourise all the old black and white footage, I would love to see the old footage looking as if it was filmed today.
