main reason touch screens don't work is because we drive sat on the right of the car and the majority of us are not left handed so you are distracted having to stare at a screen to use with your left - ie "wrong " hand - waving about in mid air. I have only ever had 2 cars with touch screens and hated the 3 years driving them
@sirhenners2044 ай бұрын
as someone who is left-handed, they still dont work for us. the main problem i have with them is the fact you get absolutely no feedback from touching a screen unlike what you get with buttons, meaning no matter how familiar you are you have to look at the bloody thing

@@sirhenners204 I dont struggle with mine in the C5 Aicross its no bother at all just a quick glance and a pointed finger pretty straight forward really. people complain that the air-con settings are on the screen but of you set it up befrore you move off its no problem at all and the physical buttons beneath the screen are a big help. Unfortunately the fans in the dash have a rep for breaking over time so I dont use the air -con in the summer uless its over 30 degrees C outside, im saving the fans for demisting and heating in the winters.whats the point of DRL's they only come on on the front why not the back as well, if its raining I put my rear lights on as well esspecially on dual carriageways and motorways.

I'd never own a full-size SUV, but my daughter just bought a 2013 Subaru XV (known in some markets as the Crosstrek) and that does have a point to it. It's got the space of a station wagon but has the higher driving position and being a Subaru has a very capable AWD system. It's small enough with a 2.0 engine to have reasonable fuel economy, but has that extra room that a hatchback doesn't have. I was quite impressed by it. Of course, it fits into the category of "crossover SUV" which has spawned some rather gawky looking vehicles, but the XV actually doesn't look too bad.

Mine was also part of a limited run of 30 as the last delivered 182s to Australia called the "F1" which had a little plaque signed by Fisichella and Alonso which is neat. Previous to the 182 I had a 306 S16 with the XU10J4 engine. Sadly the ACAV valves were broken and I couldn't get them replaced / repaired so the engine always felt a bit flat. Loved the handling and ride though. The clio rides almost as well, while also being at least 43% sportier so it was a winner for me.

Thanks for the reminder of your dislike of SUVs ... I know that physics is not on their side, and I no longer have one myself (we had 3 at one point, nearly bankrupted me with car tax!), but the higher driving position can be useful (except in a queue of SUVs). Our big car is now an MPV (55 plate Renault Scenic, the ugly one!), so still silly money on car tax, but at least ULEZ compliant! Now just before my SEAT Altea XL died I bought one of your finest car stickers (and a couple of mugs - my only merch purchase to date). I did look at an affordable C5, but it was knackered! I couldn't bring myself to put it on my replacement daily (09 plate Kia Picanto) as its just not special enough! The Scenic is SPecial (with a capital SP), but is mostly driven by my wife ... So in your honour I'm thinking of putting your Up n Down sticker in the 'spare' car, a 97 RAV4 - the first of the SUVs without a separate chassis, and arguably the one that started the SUV craze! Or is that cruel and unusual punishment ... I wouldn't want to upset you (just slightly irritate but hopefully amuse!) 😂

Telephones are a diabolic invention. Every time the phone rings, it's saying 'Stop what you're doing, because it's less important than what I want to talk about.' That's what the phone is saying, even if the person on the other end doesn't mean that. We leave our landline permanently on answerphone now. Even worse are touchscreens (13:15). They make sense on phones and tablets; elsewhere, they are an ergonomic disaster. Consider cameras: the cheap ones (in so far as there are cheap cameras still) are all touchscreen. The more you pay, the more proper buttons and switches and dials (ah, dials) you get. Because physical controls are better. You can develop 'muscle memory' and you get tactile feedback. My current car (for reasons) doesn't have steering wheel controls, so even changing the volume of the stereo is a potentially distracting poke and faff. It's all pseudo-hitech which is just a way of saving money, and maybe looks cool to Elon Musk. Talking of that, all these funny names are indeed usernames, with numbers stuck on by YT. The only alternative is that Musk has fathered, and crucially named, a lot more kids than we know about--but that's unlikely, because X doesn't turn up in most of them. I didn't think I'd watch this video straight through, but I did: such is the strange fascination of your art. I am sorry I'm not in the UK--else I could come to Rustival II -- Electric Boogaloo, and seek you out and make you feel awkward.

SUV hate seems plentiful here. As far as I have experienced the extra space is simply above your heads. A decent estate car, shooting brake or station wagon ( hate that term ) has the same footprint without the wasted roof space. Running a n SUV is like wearing a top hat to a marathon. Ostentatious, inefficient and possibly of some small value but 99.9% of the time just silly. The top hat is not a daily. Neither is an SUV.

But the SM is a dream car of mine and i would love to own one one day, so I'm very much looking forward to you working on your lovely SM and no you don't have to drive Dumpit naked, I was only kidding, all the best ! 😊

It's not a case of being petty, if you press down thumbs!! We are all different and all like different things. It sound you are being petty by taking offence to a video a certain person doesn't like. Some vlog-ers love to post click bait videos, and the actual vlog has no resemblance to the title pal.

What do you think pressing thumbs down actually does? I'm not taking offence to anything, I'm just stating my opinion. The thumbnail for this vid DOES have reference to the video itself, it's literally one of the questions asked. I even mention it's in the thumbnail.

@UPnDOWN I'm bot ha ing a go pal at all. I'm just saying how YT works, there is the option of thumbs down, letting the vloger know politely they where not keen on the content, not to piss the channel owner off. I Personally don't use thumbs down but some people may do, and that's fine I am a subscriber to you and like your videos. So no thumbs down from my end

Good to hear the SM news. You might like to have working on it as a "treat" when things have otherwise not been going smoothly. 😃

People just turning up at your workshop is just borderline creepy. Just because you see people on the internet doesn't mean they wanna see you in real life, leave them alone unless they're at an event or something. Also I kind of forgot you owned a TVR 😄

ZX looks better in facelift (two window Vs three window

Lost me there I'm afraid? Pre and post-facelift ZXs have the same no. of windows?

@@UPnDOWN I got myself confused between 3dr and 5dr although I still think post facelift is better they look less 'delicate' to my eye

i have, in the past, owned a Citroen zx 1.7 diesel. The engine would probably have lasted 500 years, but the bodywork was made of paper Mache and fell apart in clown car fashion after the obligatory 17 years. I am now responsible for my father's Peugeot 206. it's a 1.6 petrol on a '61' plate. it has done about 40k miles, and has always been garaged. As we approach 2028 i am dreading the French 17 year deadline. It seems to be breaking in the most foolish ways (seat belt sensor, basically anything under the seats). As I own a 2.0 litre V.A.G. of the same age, which has done 4X the mileage and still works perfectly. ( but built by non French people - ie -still works) i don't want to get rid of the 'lion', but how do i preserve it for my dad who does about 20 miles a month.

I mean, Dumpit is 23yrs old; my wife's Saxo is nearly 25yrs old; the BX I'm sitting in there is 34yrs old....if your cars are dying at 17yrs old I'd suggest you're either very unlucky or are doing something wrong!

@@UPnDOWNRight? My Cx is gonna turn 40. Spent most of its life outside. Yet it goes great, doesn't leak, and is reliable. Holds pretty well for a car that age.

The feature I would have banned is automatic cruise control. You get a bloke flash past you in the middle lane at 85, so you pull out to overtake, only to find that his auto cruise control has slammed on his brakes because someone has pulled out from the slow lane and he can't be arsed to move into the overtaking lane. That and lane control. (Rant mode off)
@AlexBarrettOWI4 ай бұрын
I'm told Rant Mode can be switched off. However, I prefer to leave mine in Auto on ballistic setting.

I don't like SUVs also and features in modern cars like stop start electronic hand brakes are not my favourite and my 1997 Toyota Hilux doesn't have a screen and everything is so mechanical and wears have a 2017 Suzuki Baleno it does have a screen and it only operates the blue tooth for the phone and the radio and a proper manual hand brake and no stop start and port injection because Suzuki don't sell there vehicles in the USA

Who the hell do you think you are, not wanting to be disturbed at work?? That person spent a good 5 minutes thinking about how you would down tools and stop what you're doing to look at their car for free 😮
