Oh WOW!!! This brings back memories. I was 18 y/o, working at the Sears Outlet Warehouse, in Maywood. I drove to work in a '79 Camaro. It was pouring out and it took me over 90 minutes to get to work. The parking lot was flooding and when I got in, the warehouse supervisors were having us load pallets because the truck docks were flooding. My buddy was on a forklift when he hit a wet patch. The forklift started sliding and he jumped off just before it fell off the edge of the dock into the water. I think we spent the whole shift putting product on the industrial steel shelves. GOOD TIMES!!! LOL!!!

I was a 3-year old when the flood happened. My brother had a pet snake who mysteriously vanished, but reappeared, floating on a piece of wood in the basement. At least we found him.

Yes I was four when it happened. I remember when we opened the door to our down stairs apartment the garbage can floated across the living room. I also remember wanting to swim in the house.

My family used to live on Myrick Ave in Addison. We were about four houses and Villa Ave away from the Salt Creek. We moved out in '68......that whole area flooded in '87, and a year or two after we moved out. The area around Salt Creek was a flood plain for at least a 1/4 mile on either side.

I lived by Ben Allison Park. I will never forget this event. I did swim in the water because you actually could not avoid it and I am fine.

I live in Park Ridge and did back then.We got hit and besides the flood in the fall of 86 we've had flooding in out town long before this.With Elmhurst being so hard it makes me wonder about other floods that happened years before.I'm sure some could of lived there for years and it was deja vu all over again.

My dad was 10 when this flood happened but he wad not there he lived in Bloomingdale IL and he still is with me and my lil sister

I lived near the Kennedy and Cicero, I remember our yard was under water cos we played in it and that section of expressway was flooded but I had no idea it was this bad. I was 9

I grew up in Elmhurst and remember this quite well. The garbage men were super busy collecting all the ruined belongings people piled at the curbs.

The corner of 83 and St Charles is on this video at 41:11. There was a Builders Square there at the time. Check out the video called "Elmhurst Illinois Flood of 1987 Home Video". There is footage on there from the corner of Oakland Ave and Wildwood Ave. My grandma lived near there.

I lived in Maywood in 1987, and Stone Park Oct 1988- Nov 1990. Stone Park got flooded twice in 1990, and right after the flood, my family and I moved to Chicago near Humboldt Park.

I was born there that year July 21 1987 my parents moved us to our cabins for awhile. We used a little John boat my dad pulled us on.
