Some of these races have less people on the gate than a local Chicken Licks raceway race. I think I counted 18 in MX2. That's sad. Where were the spectators?

Riders can’t afford to travel all over the world when they’re not finishing top 5. This happens every year. The gates get smaller and smaller as do the fans

Except for the very very FEW old school, real tracks on the list of venues each year, WHO REALLY WANTS TO BECOME THE WORLD CHAMPION OF PARKING LOT RACES, grab a bull dozer & push around some sandy type dirt stuff, CHARGE THE PROMOTERS HALF THE MONEY IN THE WORLD & JUST GIGGLE YOUR WAY TO THE BANK EVERY MONDAY MORNING, after which you sit down & hand the keys for the 5 big rigs to haul it all to the next hunk of flat ground that you have SUCKERED SOMEONE INTO PAYING YOU THE OTHER HALF OF ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD, to hold the next WANNA-BE MOTO GP, rinse & repeat, OVER & OVER, until all the money in the world is gone & then sit down & cry & moan about ""WHO KILLED THE GOLDEN GOOSE"" that used to be REAL MOTO-CROSS!!!

""Where were the spectators?"" When they do these ""FLAT EARTH"" parking lot races, it is SOOOOO much easier to shoot the race from less cameras if there are NO PESKY SPECTATORS STANDING ANYWHERE NEAR OR AROUND THE TRACK, so since this is a LIVE TELEVISION SHOW, we don't want those people in the way of the camera men so too bad, they gotta go out of our way so we can just go back & forth with the cameras and shoot this weeks COOKIE CUTTER COPY of what we are supposed to build on this big field out on the edge of town. Besides, who do you think that you are for even asking anyway?? Just sit down, shut up & turn on the tube & don't bother us, OKAY?!?!?!?

At one point it looked like mxgp was overtaking American moto, (not supercross) but moto had way more fans at races. I think they said it was the biggest season in years, and here it looks like they have 100 people standing around.

This series needs more rounds in Europe where people are passionate for motocross, not in Asia or Turkey where interest is low. Also, Adamo looks like he has no confidence in his eyes for the title. Hope that Coenen is all right after the crash.

100%...I think we had more people where I race locally here in Southern California as fans, no disrespect. But I think it should be a European series only. The AMA series always has great crowds with people who either love the sport or are local racers along with their families and friends creating a solid atmosphere. Maybe do an exhibition race in Australia one a year like the Paris SX that would attract top level dudes from around the world. Just my shitty .02 worth.

This race should have been in Istanbul instead of Afyon. Afyon's population is like 750k. But Istanbul has over 15 million people... This is a world championship and it should be all around the world I get it (and this is good for the sport too) but advertising should be better. They organized many concerts with popular Turkish singers, just to get as many people as they can get but the concerts were in Saturday evening and people just drove home after the concerts and nobody cared about the real race. I told them this concert idea was wrong months ago, because the people who come for the concerts are not interesting with motocross. And If MXGP wants people to get interested, they have to influence this better. (Slowly) People wont get into a sport that they did not hear it before.

@@keppozx Why bring up AMA, his comment was on the GP,s, these tracks are garbage with zero spectators, MX is strong in the US and the promoters need to stop with the huge fees to hold a GP or the series will disappear, and this is from a huge fan from NZ

AMA and FIM need to sort the season out. In the 80s, the world championships were 12 rounds and the AMA season was shorter. The world championship should also be in the European countries and maybe rounds in the US and Australia.

Ah, I see we are in the section of the MXGP series where there is regularly 12 rider gates and no fans. I’ll check back in about 3 week.

How to possibly grow MXGP MXGP needs to just stay in Europe/EU nations. No need to travel half way across the world when no riders or fans show up. USA is the same size as Europe/EU yet they manage to get 40 riders for both classes every week. So only go to places that you can guarantee a full field of riders and packed stands. Go to more production based bikes, Cairolli and Vialle who have both recently raced in USA have both said that MXGP bikes are prototype chassis were as AMA are production based chassis. Production based chassis are cheaper and are more relevant to the public who buy the bikes. MXGP is a great series and I hope it can return to its former glory.

You used to have to qualify for the main with 40 riders and then there would be a support race. The govern body have run motocross into the ground all this rubbish about racing round the world there's no money. Like Turkey is a big motocross country NOT!

@@RubbishFPS I was totally thinking about that when I wrote the post, especially with their numbers 1 line apart as they were!! Just put either one on a race bike without any markings, start the race and TAKE BETS ON WHAT LAP THEE FRONT END TUCK & RESULTING SWAP & LO OR HIGH SIDE TAKES PLACE. You could even make side wagers on WHAT PLACE THEY CRASH OUT OF or HOW MANY POSITIONS THEY LOOSE DURING THAT MOTO or HOW MANY WEEKS/MONTHS THEY WILL BE OUT FROM THE CRASH (TG243 is way way ahead in that depo) & maybe even a LIFETIME WAGER ON HOW MUCH $$$$ THEY LOOSE FROM NOT FINISHING/WINNING RACES/CHAMPIONSHIPS???

Look there, the dying series. I remember races were the crowd was standing in 8 to 10 rows around the tracks. In turkye there are more peeps around when they slaughtering a goat. Missing more guys like Herlings who stand up and talk about grievances in this motorsport series. ✌🏽

I used to think similarly until I used an online inflation calculator to adjust for bikes I had back in the day. Prices are higher, but not much, and of course a person is getting a much better product now.

Looks like the "World series" of motocross is just 20 Europeans on average racing a bunch of crappy tracks on different continents with little to no spectators. MXGP is best off just merging their roster with the AMA for more money and more fans

Wow! Not much interest in Turkey for GP level moto. That track wasn't GP level, though. Can't find some inspired natural terrain for an awesome Turkish-style course? C'mon. I know your TV contracts are the thing, but hardly any riders on the gate, a weak track, barely any spectators?!?! You're doing something wrong. Top level motocross is an exciting sport; it should be served better than this.

As much as I hate to say it USA is place for these guys to be it’s acctually growing over there and the competition it better I think why don’t these riders go to America where people actually will fill the stands and cheer loud for you on the podium
