What a Great Man Ojukwu was.. First Graduate to join the Army Choosing to Carry the responsibility of his people when they begged him to Even though he could have lived a life 10x happier and free of any trouble if he had not chosen to ( All others from Gowon, to Muritala to Danjuma, to Buhari , to Adekunle , were all stark illiterates .. hence their mindset Gowon couldn't even comprehend the articles in the Aburi accord What a shame to them ) There has not been any after him .. And there are forces keeping Igbos down .. You can see it in some of the replies here as well..

The war wasn't between Nigeria and Biafra. It was between the Igbo and Nigeria,Egypt Russia ,United Kingdom, US and France until France changed her mind. Biafra soldiers got to Ore until they were asked to withdraw to Enugu by General Victor Banjo. No enemy was pursuing them and that led to the execution of General Banjo and Col.Ifeajuna.People must do away with sentiments and face reality.

@ Kelechukwu Anozyk. Thank you for being plain with the truth. He was brave and determined, bless his soul but made the mistake of going into war that wasted millions of great innocent souls that we missed dearly . Negotiations will have resolved the differences peacefully . Other nations in Africa got their much needed independence without bloodshed after Biafra war .Love him so much cos he reminded me so much of my father . I just cannot imagine how they were so fluent in languages. Mother tongue, English, French, Spanish . My dad was in Aba for so many years and also spoke the Igbo language fluently along the above mentioned languages.

@@adebayoolubunmi2201 Thank you. Nigeria got their independence in 1960 without bloodshed. Ojukwu was not a party to the Independence accord. It was Nnamdi Azikiwe of Eastern Nigeria who was a party to that. Ojukwu was made Premier of Eastern Nigeria in the mid 1960s, he saw the marginalization of Igbos, the decimation and oppression of Igbo in the North, he couldn't hold it and he moved for secession and war. However, he later regretted all that later in Life, advocated for Nigeria unity and even campaigned for President of Nigeria in 2003

@@obiezedaniels5907 I studied Nigerian history in 1999 as an undergraduate and I remember some things that caused the war, but I can't say everything here. Nothing I said was wrong. Yes, Aburi Accord was one of the major reasons for the way where Gowon failed to keep. Nnamdi Azikiwe was the premier of Eastern Nigeria from around 1940 until independence in 1960, he was a party to the independence a d supported a united Nigeria. Zik never supported the way, even though he was the first prominent Igbo man, first African to get a university degree from American University in 1930 and most respected African at that time. Ojukwu was the leader of Eastern Nigeria, probably it was called Governor and no longer premier at the time he took over. The Biafra war was a failed battle, it set Igbos backwards in mainstream Nigeria. It is also setting the Igbos backwards now

The question now, though, is how organized is the new Biafra Movement? I hope it is not just speeches, marches, demonstration and zeal. Which physical border defines Biafra? Where does Biafran land end, and where does Nigeria begin? Is there central financing? Is there a Government already in place, ready to take control?

Destruction? That's a laughable statement, given the spate of self-destruction happening in other parts of Nigeria, except the SouthEast. Yes, I mean those presently cursed parts whose people were beguiled into fighting against Biafra and killing innocent folks. Your hypocrite leaders, both dead and alive, have blood on their hands, and abandoned you all to wallow in abject poverty and filth. Ojukwu led a good cause and fought a good fight, but many betrayals ruined it all. So, he had to retreat and flee to fight another day.
