see the humility of this person who has tons of knowledge about the small arms vertical and the day is not far off where india can be net exporter of small arms. The strong import lobby in indian army top brass has never let indigenous industry to thrive in the last 18-20 years. now there should be no looking back. jai hind

@@sridharan.cchakravarthy4886 SQRs? How do SQRs come into what I have said? SQRs have to do with calibre, range etc.. I have written about the 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' rifle which cannot hurt the enemy, and jams due to heat in summer, cold in winter, water in monsoon, and cannot survive a fall of 10 feet. Are we going to become 'net exporter' of such a product? We can become a 'net exporter' of mosquito net or fishing net, but not rifles!

The Army top brass is not responsible for the development of the indigenous industry. It's the political establishment and policy makers. The pathetic pace of development even now of Indian Defence industry, coupled with outdated design capabilities, rudimentary research and corrupt bureaucracy has left no option for the top brass but to rely on imports. It's really ridiculous how these weapons like Ugram are being hyped, in a country which is still making AK 203 under licence from Russia. I should know, after firing every weapon that the Indian army had in its arsenal during the 90's. 🙏🏻🇮🇳

The design team took an AK-74 frame, barrel and receiver, added an AR-15 grip, FN FAL magazine and M4 stock - and now it is a "world class" product...Until the metal starts to over heat and parts start to wear down and break. Please farm this out to private companies

Good observation. Reason why these prototypes are never accepted by the armed forces on the field. Also, the low-quality metal is susceptible to rusting and blocking from mud, clay, moisture and dirt, especially in a tropical country like India with high humidity.

Small issues, or improvements can be done progressively, as It is never possible to develop a so called perfect weapon. Unfortunately Armed forces have a lot of import fascination. After 14:00 whatever he's saying is correct. Indian Army should stop fancy attraction of foreign maal. They themselves know some so called best weapons in the world failed in Indian weather conditions. Example Indian military helicopters altitude/service ceiling requirment is around 20,000-21,000 feet in low oxygen, low temperature conditions. HAL ALH can fly. Apart from ALH, there are barely few helicopters in the world that can fly high. So any other foreign equipments maybe good in aspects but they cannot function to our particular needs. More important for us is cost, affordable, cost top notch quality and also we need quantity.

Why do the forces want to import rifles? Bcoz of the junk produced by the indigenous agency! After all, it's the uniformed man who has to face the enemy, who is well-equipped. The Pak Ordnance Factory produces high-quality rifles (Heckler&Koch) which never get jammed. The IOF product is a sorry joke. We used to call it a VK rifle (built on the Indian principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam).....So that the enemy does not get hurt. This delicate darling can't survive a fall of 10 feet. It jams due to heat in the summer, due to water in the rain, due to cold in the winter and due to Durga Puja in autumn. Probably because it's from Ooest Bengal.

DRDO should hire some small arms designer especially gun designer, who knows and master well about what soldiers need in the battlefields, not Indian soldiers, but foreign soldiers, why because they are like perfectionist in weapons demands, most of the indian soldiers will say "well this is ok" they will not have opportunity to design wold class gun to sell for foreign buyers, they need to take it series about small arms design, they should accept their engeneers and designers don't understand well about what soldiers need and want, they need special designer, some engineer who has also high degree in their college dont know well about guns, gun design looks simple but its like re desigining new generation combustion engine, normal combustion engine working principle is simple but high end engine is not, but they should also know well about what can happen in real battlefields, can it handle well what about its ergonomics, how about the gun balance, better position to place charging handle etc, its not simple, thats why some big small arms company hire some veterans with their designers and engineers, Indian small arms company should also need to do the same, and by the way flexibility is also the key to success, they also need to be flexible, if need they should hire some foreigners designers or ex-special force, ex-soldier etc...

Good job.. Just a quick question.. Why 7.62x51?.. The recoil is going to be rather hard.. Unless there is an additional muzzle brake or buffering in the butt plate..

This is regarding INSAS Rifle it looks same as Amitabh told about Veeru to his Mosi. Very good but only 5 problem. In a assult rifle only 1 problem is sufficient to cancel the order but Indian armed forces were forced to buy them with 5 main problems. That is why in 2024 we are buying from America Sig or AK 203 .

Better be more proactive by making common 21st century features available rather than waiting for someone to ask for them. Or else forget about the export market.
