Funny how dads sit around like a bump on a log but are always watching for danger.

We don’t need to constantly move around to sense danger. We feel it

It is a product of the process of natural selection. The fathers that didn't have this reflex failed to protect their offspring adequately and their line died off. Leaving the fathers that did protect their offspring to pass on their genetics instead.

So let me get this straight, you get dad reflex’s, dad strength, and a sense to know when things are going wrong or the thermometer is turned up too high….. so becoming a dad turns you into spiderman?

Pretty much, getting bit by a spider is still easier though.

Not a dad, but had dad reflexes once. A black widow was sitting on a chair outside my house. My dog went to jump at it and before I could even comprehend anything, I realized that my arm was around him and that I had pulled him back. It gave me confidence for when I have kids. If my reflexes can protect a dog, I have a lot of confidence I can protect my children when the day comes that I have them.

Honestly? Dog dad. Might not be a human dad, but that counts as dad reflexes.

In the 4th clip the car actually still hit the kid right in the face. Some guy does that to my kid while we're out for a walk...i'm going to jail PERIOD

Same. You hit me, we're gonna tussle. You hit my family, I'm putting you in the ground. Plus: I'm German. That clip showed a pedestrian crossing. Cars MUST stop to let people pass on those. It's a double whammy, he hit the kid and he shouldn't drive in the first place.

Hey Mums. You know how annoying it is when Dad's keep yelling "BE CAREFUL" at their children. We do it because we're hard-wired to anticipate and be ready to deal with many threat to our family. Please empathise with us. We spend our waking hours contemplating risk.
