Just remember that their choreographer won a Tony right before they performed. Their joy for Chris Gatelli is so present as they perform, you can't help but smile with them.

This should have won best musical over Once. There's no comparison.
@marblefan5009 жыл бұрын
I respectfully disagree.
@michaelbeaudoin15189 жыл бұрын
I saw them back to back in New York, and for me there was no comparison. Newsies embodied everything that I love about musical theatre. It had an amazing energy. I'm sorry to say that Once bored me to tears. Minus a couple of good songs, the rest just dragged on. That's my opinion, of course. Have you seen both of them? I would just be curious to see why you enjoyed Once so much.
@marblefan5009 жыл бұрын
Michael Beaudoin Indeed. Don't get me wrong, I love Newsies, but Once has music that really got to me. It showed me musicians like Glen Hansard, and the show inspired me to play guitar. I have never heard music on the acoustic guitar that sounds as beautiful like Gold, Say it to me now, or Leave (my opinion). Though, I can see why you think Newsies should have won. The choreography is amazing, and the music is too. I hope to be seeing Newsies again, in fact.
@michaelbeaudoin15189 жыл бұрын
I totally see where you're coming from. "Gold" and "Falling Slowly" were a couple of my favorites. I hope I didn't offend you with my earlier comments because no offense was meant. I completely respect your opinion. It actually gives me a new perspective. Once is coming to my city in May, so I'll go into it with a new attitude and see what I get out of it this time.
@marblefan5009 жыл бұрын
Michael Beaudoin No offence taken. I'm glad to hear it is coming to your city, because it's closed here for me :P.

Do not watch this musical on a weeknight, people. You will be so excited you won't be able to sleep a wink that night!
@brittanybroquadio88469 жыл бұрын
When they were in Florida back in February, I saw it on a Tuesday, and I was so freaking excited before the musical that I urged my mom to take me the Adrienne Arsht Center two hours before it started. (Traffic was nightmare) And during the entire play, there was a smile on my face for EVERYTHING these boys did. My mom told me during intermission that if I look up the definition of Happy, my face watching the Newsies would be on it. This was absolutely the greatest performance, much needed energy was given to me but the next day at school, I was walking in gym, loudly singing Once and For All. Should I seek professional help?

Oh yeah Billy Elliot is one of the best shows I’ve ever seen on stage, and it’s set in the north east where I’m from 😊 I’ve only seen the recorded performance of Newsies on Disney+, sadly I don’t think it’s coming to the UK any time soon.

I always wondered why Mike Faist always stayed near the back then I realized, during Broadway performances, Mike wouldn't have been dancing during this song what so ever because the Delancey brother's enter half way through the song. Meaning Mike either literally does dance in this song and manages to do a full costume change at some point, or he had to learn the dance for the soul purpose of when they performed on a stage that wasn't broadway.

I know it's been 9 years, but in my opinion, Newsies should've won the Tony Award for Best Musical. Once is a big snore fest. I mean, it's not a bad show or controversial as Spring Awakening or Passion and I'm sure it has lovely moments, but that musical is so boring, Newsies is better musical than Once. But, it's been 9 years ago and I'm afraid I can't change it. I just hope Disney has better luck for the Tony Awards in this decade.
