Just a clarification on the local language - it is called 'Nagamese'. It is a patois, a lingo, not really a 'language' per se, which the Nagas have formed to communicate among themselves, because there are 17 odd Naga tribes (in Nagaland alone - there are many more in the adjoining states and Myanmar too, total nearly 30) because each tribe has its own language: Angami, Ao, Sema, etc, etc. Nagamese is about 80% Assamese, 10% Hindi, 5% Bengali and 5% the various Naga languages - if it sounds a lot like Bengali, it is because Assamese and Bengali have many, many words in common, although the diction is pretty different in the two. In fact Nagamese makes Nagaland much more accessible to mainland Indians, one can get around without local help, unlike its neighbours like Mizoram or Manipur, where one cannot understand a single word of either Manipuri or Mizo, whose origins are Tibeto-Burman (I think). (Only one word in these two languages one picks up very fast - 'mayang' (Manipuri) and 'vai' (Mizo) - both mean the same, 'outsider' (which one is never allowed to forget one is in the northeast).

I watch this program just to see Rajashree and Abhinandan have intelligent and witty fun while they review honestly and painstakingly. The 'Exocise' was too bloody hilarious... I had to pause the video laugh for 24 hours, and come again to hear t again- still funny!

The similarity of Nagamese with Bangla is so uncanny, that’s all that I could thinking while watching PAATAL LOK.

I have a few friends from Nagaland and it never occurred to me earlier, but even the words were similar. Also, Abhinandan, the language is Bangla, the people are Bengali :) .. a very common mistake by most Indians..

I agree with Rajyasree, as a bengali, I did not need subtitles for many of the local language scenes in Nagaland, so much of it is was close to bangla. Not trying to impose bangla here. :D

Jayshree was right this time, Naga will sound close to Bengali but closer to Assamese. To my ears it sound Assamese with dash of Hindi here and there.... Also Assamese is pretty understable if you are Bengali... Even if I am Bengali, I can understand Assamese almost 85%...Listen to Papon❤

Nagamese is mix of assam, Nepali, Hindi and Bengali so that different naga tribes who have different languages can communicate 😊😊

What's with this episode ? I am agreeing with Jayshree so much. Every morally wrong lady has to be Bengali in Hindi Industry... I still remember the 'Bengali Woman' slander on the Internet in the Sushant Rajput case but now that Atul Subhash has happened no one is dragging 'ethnicity' in this , it's more like 'Oh Women!!'. Only if she was a Bengali ....
