You know I’m going to look into newsletters after listening to you. If KZbin takes my channel down at least people would be up to date about that

Hey Zulie! Thank you for taking out time to make these videos. I am still figuring out the blogging environment and currently, you are one of my go-to!

I relate SO much with "not gonna use the hook" analogy!! Similarly for me, it makes it feel like readers in my audience are fish for me to reel in, that's why I don't use it too! Subtle reasons like these are really why your content is so so amazing (at least to me). Thanks again for everything Zulie!

I don't know what I can send to my subscribers lol. But after hearing you say "people who subscribe are people who want to hear from you", I'm gonna start with one this week. Thanks so much, Zulie, you're really the best haha!

Your videos are fabulous... you are so natural and have a real talent for talking to your audience... and I love your honesty. You are a champ! 🏆🏅Thank you! Tell me, what do you do if there are several niches that beg of ones-my!-writing time? Should I still try to narrow it down to one or two niches? I am currently blogging about olive oil 🫒🫒but I also have a history interest (Late Antiquity) and also the joy of working, rather than retiring, after the age of 65... 📣to name just three. Should I run a newsletter perhaps on Substack but simultaneously post blog posts on Medium? I am confused... LOL But excited too! Thank you for your valuable time in answering this rambling comment…I appreciate it! 🙂🙃 Happy New Year!🎆

Very nice and easy to follow video. I like the part with automation with IFTT and will definitely give it a try 👍

Thank you for the information. This convinced me to stop writing articles for Medium. I think you should add this requirement to your guide on getting started (if you haven't already). It seems like yet another hassle in the struggle to get our work read on Medium.

1 st comment 🤗 Really a fan of your videos..... I have question, is online writing a dying career standing in today's age where people are moving more towards videos rather than articles and written works?

Oh! I do have a question... Two actually I just signed up for your Medium setup freebie yesterday, do you think the whole thing is still relevant with all the recent changes? And where do you place your CTA to sign up for your newsletter? In just your bio, right? Or would you send them to your website which may lead them to your mailing list and more info about you?
@ZulieWrites3 жыл бұрын
I do think it's still relevant! Publications still matter as far as I can tell. I post it in my bio, my twitter bio, my IG bio, my LinkedIn, at the bottom of my stories, and anywhere else I can :)

Hi Zulie, I love your helpful videos. Thank you for putting your content out there! I'm just starting out on Medium and about to publish my first few articles next month. What is an appropriate CTA when just starting out and trying to discover your niche?
@ZulieWrites3 жыл бұрын
If you're still working out your niche, why not invite readers to leave a comment? That will let you engage with them further ad figure out where you offer most value AND where you most enjoy writing!

Thanks for the video. I'm getting some audience on Medium for now but wanna create a Substack newsletter. If someone doesn't wanna use a subscription model, then what are the other ways of monetizing it? For example, can I put ads in my substack newsletter?
@ZulieWrites2 жыл бұрын
AFAIK, Substack doesn't have an option for putting ads in the newsletter. But you can use affiliate links or create digital products and sell them through your newsletter.

Hi Zulie, how do you feel about the Medium newsletter? I’ve only got experience with my publication’s newsletter and I like how convenient it is - but feels like there’s a catch somewhere! Thanks for the video!!
@ZulieWrites3 жыл бұрын
honestly, I think they tacked it on way too late so it doesn't serve writers very well. I recommend using a built-for-purpose tool like ConvertKit or SubStack!

🥰True, the algorithm is always changing, and each platform has its own set of rules. Only your email, domain, and website are all yours. In addition, for those who dislike email, I will provide another methods of following me, such as my blog's RSS feed or my telegram channel.

Hi :) Now, I suppose medium has a feature in which newsletter is automatically included in our articles. Right? Because I see in audience stats page, it shows my email subscribers. Can I use those emails of subscribers later to send them emails about my articles/other info like books published by me etc. So, now is it still required to get convert kit to collect email id? I suppose to offer them a free course or useful course, it is only required now as one has to create a landing page for it by convertkit. Right? But for email list, its automatic with medium now. Right? Please let me know.
@ZulieWrites3 жыл бұрын
Sort of. The built-in Medium email list only works for sending out Medium stories. That means if you publish a new story, you can hit that checkbox and let your subscribers know you published a new story. However, the email list is accessible, so you could transfer the email addresses to a different newsletter platform like ConvertKit. If you decide to do that, I'd recommend sending an informational email to your subscribers first so they can opt out if they don't want to receive promotional emails.

Thoughts on using different browsers and incognito windows to transcend Medium's nonmember limit?

I've only tested MailChimp, ConvertKit, and Substack so, unfortunately, I can't give you my opinion on it. But I can say that I personally use ConvertKit for my mailing list and I'm extremely happy with it.

Use a mailing list builder like ConvertKit or Substack and hyperlink your newsletter's sign up page at the bottom of your posts to encourage people to sign up!

Do you think there's still a way to make money with just a newsletter like Daily Skimm? Or has that ship sailed?

Depends on your existing audience and how profitable your niche is, I reckon.

Have you ever thought of starting a Discord server? Unlike a newsletter, you would have much closer contact with your subscribers. Plus, it's free.

It's something I have thought about - I want to build a community somewhere else where I can do exactly that, engage with ppl, but am currently leaning towards Twitch so I can slo do Write With Me Live events.
