Elvis would not have committed suicide. He may have been depressed over the book "Elvis: What Happened?'', but he was not suicidal. He went to the dentist & was exercising hours before died. Billy Smith said that Elvis was nervous but excited about his upcoming tour.

David, told this story back in the early 80’s. Albert Goldman wrote a book based on it. I don’t know if Elvis killed himself directly, but indirectly he did. He was ready to die.

Ok, gang, let me give it to you straight. When one dies of a drug overdose, the respiratory system shuts down and it's a very peaceful, quite death. Elvis died quite violently, most likely from a seizure and/or from a massive heart attack which he would have been susceptible to given his health problems such as high blood pressure, an enlarged heart, and high cholesterol, etc.

it makes perfect sense. Elvis's image was always important to Elvis. At that time in Elvis's life, battling health issues the last thing Elvis wanted was attacks on him personally. Elvis had his attorney contact Sonny and Red with an offer to pay all expenses and Attorneys fees and a lump payment to them of their choice to cancel the contract on the Book. They refused.
