I’m so physically sick over this, we live not 3 miles from this and had no idea he was still out there, we thought it was perfectly safe, they told us to return back to normal activity, so we all thought he was gone. My 11 year old feed cattle on our family ranch by himself on an atv, he did not go that first week, but after that week, he went by himself. I would never have met him go if we had been alerted that he was still in the area. I feel like an absolute fool

Hauling dangerous inmates in a modified school bus. Rediculous, never would of happened in California or the Federal inmate system. The guard in the back with the shotgun moved like a tree sloth. He would have been caught within 24 hours anyplace else. It takes a Olympic field & track racer 24 minutes to cover three miles. In a half hour he should have been surrounded. The Texas system was severely exposed, look at Uvalde. In most rural areas there is a civilian network that wakes up immediately with telephone calls with ranchers, armed farmers immediately on alert. Guess you can call them militia. The Texas system was/is exposed. Yep easy to kill somebody at a traffic stop, or in their own home eating ice cream. This is bahloney weeks later the escapee is able to murder children.

As a former TDCJ CO, this inmate should have never been put on a chain and transported on the bus with his prior conviction. When I work at Ellis, anybody with that conviction was always taken over to Walls unit (Hospital) for medical by van with three COs. Once at Walls, he would be taken shackle and cuff with two COs to medical and return back to the unit he came from immediately. This was written rule and protocol OF the TDJC inmate transport guidelines. A complete investigation on why this guidelines weren't follow and removing anybody including the warden for this horrible infraction. Public safety is always the first priority and for what happen to the Collins family there would be a major lawsuit for TDCJ to deal with. RIP Collins family members

County sheriff has nothing to do with transportation of state inmates. It's all done within the TDCJ.

This family should still be alive! The escapee was pointed out immediately and they did nothing. They guy killed a family of four but the bus driver is stabbed in the hand snd chest? Let’s look at this: 1) The guy cut his way into the bus drivers cage? Really? I live in New York n this escape was all over on the news on Facebook it was announced escaped man shot n called n now people want to say they weren't notified it's been all over the cell phone as well u tube etc,The escapee was half a mile where they were searching it was well publicized n now law enforcement is to blame This should have never happened to that Collins family a tragedy my heart goes out to the family For others counties to complain u were well aware what was happening like I stayed it was all over TV all on the phones

Yeah, this is sad... awful. This guy escaped around the same time as the woman who killed the cyclist out there in Texas. She's still on the loose. They have footage of her at the airport there, and they said she flew into LaGuardia. She may still be in NY. She could be anywhere.The news has pretty much stopped talking about her. I have already warned relatives in Michigan because she's from the Detroit area. I am in Florida, and I always keep an eye out for fugitives. Plenty of places to hide here, and people come and go all the time, so no one asks a lot of questions.

Law Enforcement had stated that the area was "cleared" and that they were searching another area, locals & people in Texas were aware of this "development". Read comments from those in the area, they state this fact themselves. BLAMING THE VICTIMS IS INCORRECT.

i watched a murder documentary once and this poor girl was slaughtered in her home. During the investigation, they had 3 suspects all living almost next to her. All perverted and sick individuals. We are all most likely always surrounded by monsters like this. Lock your doors, arm yourselves and stay vigilant.

I’m absolutely appalled by this case. Any violent criminal should have a tracking device if they’re leaving the prison grounds. This inmate took over a bus, was missing for 22 days and murdered 4 children and an adult. How does this happen? Armed guard should have been on the back of the bus.

As a Texan, I am disgusted by all this. I have great respect for police but between this, Uvalde and Armstrong (remember she's still on the loose) they let her go! I woke up thinking of the Collins.
