Unfortunately this is exactly what Houston is like. I'm a 46 year old native and I've seen this over and over. People always moving into a neighborhood and changing the demographic. Sometimes it's for the better and sometimes it's for the worst but it always changes. A couple of years a specific area of town will gain popularity and then it will eventually move to another part of town 5 years later. 10 years ago it was Midtown. 5 years ago it was the Heights, Montrose and Edo. Now it's 3rd and 2nd ward. It'll change again. This happens every time we have an influx of people from other states. Most people that live downtown in the newer properties are not from Houston. That's a pretty good way to determine how many newcomers we have that decided to make Houston their new home.

Yes you are right. I am not sure if we can continue to handle the surge of newcomers though.
@lisanewton82372 жыл бұрын
@@Shazzyhtown I agree. I believe that bc of the increased amount of newcomers we are seeing housing prices and rent soar. Is there a way to redevelopment the area and keep residents, history at the same time? We see this happening all over the world when a once low income area become higher in demand. So glad I’m Houston and U.S. there is mobsters trying to physically and threatening existing residents to move (I haven’t heard).

When you move up in the world, you move into a different hood. There are people from 3rd ward who have made a lot of money. I think all those new properties going up bring new life into the community. It’s a nice change for the better. I don’t get all the complaining. You’re neighborhood is getting a free upgrade.
@RLsmith-cs3ry2 жыл бұрын
I see you don’t get it. They upgrade, UP the rent and get the residents UP out of there. There’s an agenda and it doesn’t benefit the residents who already live there. Saw it happen to my neighborhood already. That’s what the complaining is about. New life? Would you like new life in your home? Raise your rent 3 times the amount you were paying? That means you’re old life and you need to find another home.
@htownforever05102 жыл бұрын
How is it an upgrade when no one white folks lives there benefits from it? Just because white people take over and claim a space doesn’t automatically make it good. Your comment is ignorant and shows your lack of compassion.
