This is truly sad. 300 law enforcement officers plus dogs, drones, and helicopters. If there was any DNA or evidence saying that he was still in the area 1 mile from the crash site then the community should have been notified. 4 minors and 1 adult are now dead, because the TDOJ decided not to do a statewide alert. The TDOJ should be ashamed of themselves.

One officer driving, another officer in a cage in the very back of the bus with a pistol and shotgun. There's so many little details as to what made this escape possible. The inmate obviously planned this carefully but he also got lucky to a certain extent. Had either officer (especially the one in the back of the bus) been paying closer attention, this would not have happened.

Handcuffed and shackles with a chain running from the shackles to the handcuffs. Oh and let's not forget the belt that the handcuffs go through. Pretty much impossible to get out of it without a key. Not to mention being able to cut the fence barrier for 30 plus minutes to get to the driver. Does make any sense.

Let's take a moment to appreciate law enforcement! Everyone has some crap to say about them until they need them... and then they can't possibly get there fast enough! It's moments like these that show people just how badly we do need them and I don't quite think people understand how little they get paid and how much of an emotional toll it takes on them doing this job everyday.
