Im southwest VA Russell wise county line. Power still out to thousands roads still blocked we got 10 inch of rain in 2 days. My roof is screwed from wind . Already cut 6 elderly people out so they could get help. Bridges gone . Houses unseated off foundation.. no one is talking about anywhere but there ..

The Asheville flood of 1916 was caused by back to back hurricanes that hit the region. It's certainly not common for them to track that far inland and still be that strong, but it's not unheard of.
